I acknowledge that view and many Dutch voters would see it that way as well. There are a lotta Turkish residents in The Netherlands who have a vote re this Turkish referendum and many prob perceived that no harm would be done in listening to Turkish govt representatives even at closed door meetings rather than open rallies. IMO the timing of this request was not the best and it was always gonna result in a direct diplomatic confrontation between the two countries.
