I can only surmise that the "frictionless border", whatever that means, is between the UK and ROI. I would imagine that Scotland, England and Wales all have similar borders with ROI through the ferry ports and airports.
As far as the Article 50 vote result is concerned, I can't believe anyone is the least surprised at the vote. Unfortunately all that will happen now are months of arguments, head-line grabbing quotes and vicious lies and recriminations from both sides, followed by years of difficult Brexit negotiations which won't please anyone. At the moment, I feel like reaching for the off switch and going back much later to switch back on to see what has happened.
