To be honest, as nice as the talk of Schneiderlin et al was, the fact is that we're always going to be behind the likes of Everton in the transfer queue. People who roll out the "they'll go to whoever pays the most money!" line seem blissfully oblivious that Southampton have spent years now trying to flex their financial muscle... and yet mysteriously, every time one of their best players - or, indeed, their managers - get to jump ship for Everton or Spurs, they're off like a shot. And that's not going to change, no matter how much money they have.
So the job for this transfer window is simply to get some slightly younger blood in, and Livermore fits the bill nicely. Welcome aboard, Jake.
