You avoid answering who else he could have picked to do a better job. When the players trot out onto the pitch it doesn't matter if the manager stands with his arms folded or turns somersaults on the touchline, if their minds are off it they wont perform. We don't know whats going on behind the scenes but you would have to be very naïve to think that off field events don't have a negative impact on the team.
No matter who is picked I expect them to do what the are paid to do - play football, we didn't do that. Saturdays blame lies on the shoulders of the 11 players that were on the field.
