Well we are currently in free fall and need to steady the ship.

Change of manager needed or not?? I like Danny Wilson but he seems to have struggled at most of his past few clubs.

Imo I don't think the manager is the problem. We can't keep getting new managers if its going wrong because it will unsettle the players. We need stability at times like this and it's not like we're losing games 4 or 5-0 we're losing by very narrow margins 1-0s possibly 2-1s. Fitness is probably the issue, not to mention we're missing key players.

Does Rotherham have more child abuse or changes in football management? Discuss.
A lot of top managers enforce their personality and authority on a team by doing something big. Guardiola used Joe Hart to big himself up - now last night we saw how wrong an assessment that was of Hart, BUT Pep clearly thinks there's something to be gained. I fear Danny is too decent a man to do anything like that. I don't want him sacked, but a lot of knee-jerk fans will. My thought would be to change direction and shock the dressing room. Danny brought in Liddle. At best he's been ordinary, at worst almost a liability, so disloyal as such a u-turn would seem, I'D DITCH LIDDLE as both captain and player. Then I'd change tactics somehow - I don't think it matters how - we just need to give the players on the field something new to believe in. In management terms I'm with you Matt on stability BUT our results are depressingly defeatful (I've gone all Bunterish), I think the manager has to embrace change. If we sit and do nothing we might go out and beat Scunny on Saturday (if they are on a downer after losing to Oldham) AND the danger in that is that will encourage us to think we've turned a corner when all that has happened is Scunny were temporarily heading in the wrong direction. We might beat them and return to losing ways the following week and proceed to waste several more weeks before we take the radical action necessary. And yes I'd do everything I could to sign a free agent, even at an inflated wage. There's no mileage in keeping players within a stable comfort zone when you're getting relegated. It's like the draw for the FA Cup ...... when you keep drawing out numbers over 60 it's time to give the balls a shake. And by the way couldn't we come up with a lottery machine that draws the balls a little more excitingly than Paul Ince and David James? FKKKKING 'ell, Colchester away - plum draw no one wanted or what?

The results aren't great but I think we could turn it around. Scunthorpe on Saturday will be a really tough tough match.

As likeable as Danny is there has to be a time when DA will pull the trigger if the results continue to be poor .Its a difficult one really ,he hasnt had the best of luck with injuries to say the least but also some of his decisions leave a lot to be desired ,the one that sticks out is his total faith in Liddle ,who in my opinion hasn't had an 8/10 performance yet since hes been here .
In my opinion If we don't win in the next 3 games he has to go .

When as reasonable a fan as you says that Pooch I fear it really does reflect opinions held more strongly elsewhere by far less reasonable men .......... I fear for Danny because this division contains NO team which is obviously worse than us. The positive side of the coin is that there is not an unbridgeable gap between us and even the top teams. Change is possible, but we can't keep hanging on and hoping Ched back on the field will solve all our problems. To thrive you need a stable element, like the manager, or even a very-together set of players. Change CAN enliven everything, but when it descends into instability, as at Orient, you never know how or when you'll pull out of the tailspin. Stability all too easily becomes habit, just as instability becomes chaos.
Me? I would out Liddle and I really would stick Evatt just in front of the back four and tell him it isn't his running I want, it is everything he has learnt about the game in a career of almost 20 years. If I were Danny I'd also be considering ditching Morgan and making the Hump my sidekick. But then I'd be bringing Raglan back at Christmas and having a word with Anderson to establish where he sees his future - if it appeared still to be the dog's chance of Burnley he'd be out of the club quickly. And I've still big doubts about Wilkinson, was his burst of goals a freak in a so-far barren career? Maybe we'll beat Scunny. That will give Danny time, but he needs to be seen using it or it'll become a rope to hang him. I don't feel he is really a man of dramatic action. He was a solid, dependable workaholic on the pitch who was a very good player lacking any obvious weakness (other than his height!) I think that is the man. I fear for a start he'll stick by Liddle who appears to be unaware of the debt he owes a decent man. You'd think he'd run through a brick wall for Danny Wilson. |
