Jeff Astle scores Albion's opener in the FA Cup quarter-final decider against Liverpool, 18th April 1968

A hard-fought and generally deserved point at home against in-form Tottenham last weekend is probably the best confidence boost we could hope for going into Saturday's trip to Anfield, where we face equally in-form Liverpool. It has to be said that the Reds are looking a formidable attacking side this season, but Manchester United demonstrated on Monday night that frustrating them on home turf is very much possible (and of course, because Jose Mourinho was pulling the strings, their performance was hailed as A Defensive Masterclass, as opposed to the Embarrassing Disgrace To The Premier League that an identical performance from a Tony Pulis side will inevitably be branded).

Again, without wanting us to become draw specialists, a point would do us just fine here. The thought is tantalising that we might be able to finally accomplish what was snatched from us against Sunderland and Spurs - not to mention in the 95th minute at Anfield last December - and actually take the three points, but Liverpool away hasn't been kind to us these last couple of years. We'll take what we can and move on.

Johnny Evans being suspended is a bit of a blow.
Same plan as last Sat - frustrate them in the 1st half then hopefully nick a goal.

Val, I fear the worst as well .....We are currently 13th and whilst walking the dog I saw a lone magpie, and you know how it goes, one for sorrow. We are also on the telly ........ how many more bad omens.

Today's three o clock games have just finished ..... We are 13th and only three points above Hull in 18th ......our three consecutive draws are not helping our cause. We still have a plus goal difference compared to Hulls minus 14 but squeaky bum time with tough fixtures to follow.

As soon as we kicked off, the BBC text showed Liverpool with 81% possession.
Do you they've had a guess at the final figure?
