Well this toxic election is almost drawing to a close and I'll find out if my faith in common sense and solid human values takes another huge dent and Trump somehow sneaks his way into the White House. The word, COMPROMISE, would be applied to the majority of leaders and governments throughout Europe - a compromise of genuine moral values and it doesn't bear thinking about!

Well as we stand now at 6am UK time, it hangs in the balance but it looks like Trump is going to win it!!!!! Astounding result, goes against every poll produced, a complete vote against the establishment and a huge anti-immigrant/immigration vote - sound familiar??? Over here a lot has been made of the similarities in this vote to the Brexit vote, the fact that the polls were so wrong and that ordinary folk have voted for complete change!! Its going to be an interesting 4 years if this result is confirmed!!

The American working classes are in for one hell of a shock when this corporate,racist,bullying, billionaire snake oil salesman unleashes his dogs on them. Stupid bastards. Trump is a pure vanity project,his only similarity with the brexit muppets is that he knows how to con the working class vote and then do xxxx all with it.

That said the democrats were the architects of their own downfall by nominating the horribly compromised clinton. Bernie sanders was a far better candidate. Whether he could have won or not i don't know.

Yep! A country with >365M people and they ended up with this maverick character, a proud mass tax avoider, with no political experience and a con man as opposed to that other dodgy character , Hillary Clinton! Trump will not deliver on all these great promises/policies and it is a similar Brexit scenario - the vote of discontent prevails! This was not a victory for the 'common man' as being suggested in some US media circles. This president is a man with extreme views- concern, trepidation and compromise will prevail world wide except in Russia where Putin will expect the sanctions to be lifted as suggested by Trump himself!
Lastly, look up a tv documentary called Hyper Normalisation and you'll get a real insight into the corrupt world of Donald Trump and his manipulated tax avoidance schemes etc. There is also a fitting comment he made years ago when he suggested that 'maybe some day I'll pitch for the republican presidential nomination, draw the 'stupid American vote' and become president'. It horrifyingly came about last night! Another 'Political Black Swan' has materialised against all the odds!!!!

I'd luv to view this latest huge negative world event with a 'touch of humour' but that's where the sentiment ends! A huge concern prevails for me and millions n millions of decent like-minded citizens world wide - it's no laughing matter! The compromise that I described in thread #4 is already self-evident amongst all world leaders. I'm watching Theresa May's congratulatory comment on bbc tv news and it is cringe worthy and sadly compromised with true moral values 'chucked out the window'! She's not the only one and I'd comment, 'Be afraid' - there are turbulent times ahead with an unelectable erratic president elect soon to be in charge of the USA but many discontented people within the American voting population actually regarded him as electable!! Bizarre!
I hope he has enough bodyguards around him as it's self-evident he will be a prime target within a hugely polarised American population and one that now has a pro gun lobby tax avoiding president in a country that is inundated with high daily gun crimes and incidents!! No surprise at the subsequent protests and demonstrations throughout America!!! Will he make America great again? It's a great rhetorical line but NO CHANCE!

I certainly take your point about Trump now being a prime target for a nutcase with a grudge. I've always thought that Trump will never make it to the Presidency - by fair means or foul.

However, your comment about him being unelectable has now sadly been proved wrong. PM May, along with others, is merely being nice and doing what she must do, whether or not she sincerely means it.

As I've pointed out before, Trump is not an idiot, he only says what a lot of idiots want to hear. He's not in the least interested in international opinion or diplomacy, he did what was required to get sufficient votes to be elected. Job done as far as he's concerned.

I've got to face it, my opinion on what most people want has been proved wrong, so maybe I'm as out of touch as the rest of us. The people have once again spoken out against the established order and made their voice heard.
