And what about Wagner running to Danny Ward at full time? Reminded me of Bob Stokoe in 1973. Smile

Apart from the offside goal that never was, Town ran the show in the first half. You'd expect them to up their game in the second half, which to be fair they did but other than Wardy's brilliant save they didn't really do owt much with what they had. Last 10 minutes we got our foot on the ball again. Mooy again bossed the first half but this time went missing in action 2nd half. One reason why Citeh have loaned him out to us apparently. Needs to be more consistent both halves. My player of the month however.

Wagner must be manager of the month now, surely.

Just looking at the 1952 results, which they're saying was our last start to a season as good as this, it has a familiar look to iit. Wins over Brentford and Barnsley.

We dont want wagner to be manager of the month! Never bodes well for the team.

My take on the game

Ward- kept us in it with a class save and some other good saves
smith- looked good enough first half going forward. Bit more shakey second half with some loose passes, but solid none the less
hudson- solid but still had some nervy moments, some good blocks/tackles too
schindler- if lynch was a rolls Royce of a defender. Then whats this guy? Never looked flustered and times his tackle and interceptions well
löwe- think he's going to be the best left back we've had for a very long time. Might score a few more like he did against barnsley. Looked good defensively too.
hogg- ran a tightrope for me after that booking. But he looks a completely different player to that of the last few seasons. Keeps it simple and protects the back four
mooy- in the a league he was known for pinging the ball around. Here he seems to want to dictate play. Slow it down speed it up but he keeps the ball moving. Disappeared second half for me.
rajiv- beats himself sometimes and will infuriate during games and over the season. Lesson for today. Dont boo players or it will bite you on t'ass
palmer- first half seemed to have a bit about him. Just slid across the pitch. Needs to get on the same wavelength as the other attacking players though
kach- works hard, strong, was good today without standing out. Think he prefers it down the middle and we may see him down there more often.
wells- another infuriating player for me atm. Work rate has gone up. His overall play has improved. But when players were advancing in the first half down the middle or wings in the first half, he didn't seem to be getting into the box enough. That being said there didn't seem to be many options in box at times, too many lurking outside the area and it happened when wells moved into the channels.

Subs- payne looked lively put himself around a bit and it will be good when he and palmer fully adjust to this level etc
bunn- he runs a lot but he seemed to tire back end of the second half. Didnt seem as quick as he used to imo.
scannell- wasnt on enough, but his work rate has improved over the last year or so. Next improvement is end product, either crosses/assists or goals.

its hard to believe how far we have come in such a short time. this time last season we had 3 points and looked relegation fodder ( it took us 12 games to get 14 points)

i know it is still very early yet and i am sticking to my assertion that a top 10 finish would be a massive improvement but the feel goods factor around the club right now is infectious , i can feel it all the way over here

if i do have one concern its that we dont kill teams off when we are dominating. hopefully that will come

Spot on MNT, you can sense our nervousness but delight at what is going on.

Wolves fans were saying they had 5-6 players still to integrate, my Villa mate is saying the same to me too and will come good, we dont have that luxury numbers wise, Billing not yet played following injury but our ealry season business seems to paying off right now and everyone bedded in which is reflected in the whole team perfomances and togetherness.

Scenes at FT were incredible very few left the stadium and the players were warmly applauded from all sides, usuallly the ground is empty at 87 mins.

The players are thriving on the positive end of match vibes from the fans, too. You can see the difference to when they have gone off to a smattering of applause in the past. They often looked down in the dumps even if they had put in a gooid performance.

Mooy apparently completed 77 passes in the game. The whole of the Wolves midfield managed 76.

Don't understand people saying Mooy goes missing in the 2nd half. The bloke's awesome and it's only due to this awesomeness that makes him appear so if he sees less of the ball. Best midfielder we've had in years.

I know it's still early but I would say that Ward is the best goalkeeper we've had in years and Schindler is the best centre back we've had in years and with Nakki playing the best spell of his time here, that's a great spine to the team.
