Maybe suits both sides - if he does well and breaks through they can extend it. If he's stuck in the U 21 team he can move on and find another club who can take him on a free. Avoids the current Dielna, Bus Sougou etc dilema

Sasso, for me is a player with a good background pedigree. He's not world class but he is a very good defender for this league. He's a step above the likes of Dielna.
IMO this is where Loovens needs to be phased out as he's aging and injury prone, and Sasso brought in to play with Lees regularly. They're relatively the same age too. Also, after this season he will be fully familiar with the Club & players so it makes no sense to let him leave just to find a replacement that needs time to gel. ( This is where the argument that Premierhsip money can buy better than Sasso, and my argument to that is we need to wake up and realize we over-achieved last season with a limited squad, and it is unlikely to happen this season) This contract should have been 2yrs at least then we could've commanded a small fee if we did decide to release.

Quite honestly I'm bewildered at what's happening behind the scenes as we push for that 150th anniversary Promotion Doh

At the moment I don't see anything wrong with what we are doing either on the field or behind the scenes!! So far we have signed Fletcher, Abdi, Pudil, Buckley, Jones and Sasso, albeit a couple were ex-loanees. That is not a bad haul and with the exception of Jones are all match squad players and in general are better than what they are replacing. We are still short of one or two pieces and we may have to wait until January to get them but the squad we have now is better than it was 12 months ago.

On the Sasso deal, about time and a good move! One year deal is ok with me because it gives us more options than tying him up on a longer one. If we get promoted, he would be replaced anyway, if we don't then we can offer him a deal and if he plays brilliantly during the season we have shown a number of times we are not shy of renewing contracts before the existing one ends.

Think we are doing brilliantly in recruitment behind the scenes. We are pretty much getting all our targets. The problem with CB is that we had / have a player lined up for a season long loan but he won't become available for two more weeks, which has forced our hand with Sasso due to injuries to Lees, Loovens & Semedo.

Our squad is so much stronger than a year ago & we are following the Middlesbrough blue print of last season by making minor adjustments to a Playoff Final side. Let's hope the result is the same.

We can only hope! Big Grin

We're stronger, I still feel we lack depth. We need a few players that can turn a game from the bench. I'm really just disappointed at how things have panned out. Call it bad luck or poor planning.

Our rivals are stronger too, this league is populated by quality players and we must make certain that we achieve our goals. That said it will take a few more weeks before the league begins to take shape. A win tomorrow would really keep our finger on the pulse. Anything less and we're going to have to play catch up!

Argentine left-back Leonel Bontempo being linked with us.

Well aside from that one there are no other rumours flying around about us. A little worrying as we do need a few more players but then again they do keep transfers very close to their chest these days at S6!!

It's not stealing if you don't mean to do it! I apologise in advance for any 'acquisitions' I may make from other people's predictions. I'm just not very good at reading back through the thread.
