THE LAST MATCH

Didn't see or hear any of the game so working off stats and hear-say on this one.  A 0-0 draw at Brentford might not look too good but they do have a very good home record so far this season, losing only once.  It reaffirms that defensively we are still solid but at the same time highlights our inability to score goals!! Angry The service the front two are getting hasn't been good enough all season and this seems to be where we need to strengthen, although SG still goes on about getting in another striker!! Doh

Having said that, once again we had enough chances to at least score once!!  We had more chances than them and more on target but still couldn't find the net!!

THE MATCH - KO SAT 15:00 BST

This week sees the visit of Norwich City, a fixture that at the start of the season we would have expected to be one of the harder ones this season.  So far they have looked one of the better sides in the division and I expect them to still be up there all season.  With our current form I expect this to be a tough game and at this stage picking up any sort of result would be a bonus!!

CURRENT FORM

Us -     Big GrinAngryUndecidedUndecidedAngryUndecided
Them - UndecidedBig GrinAngryUndecidedAngryUndecided

Having said all that, their current form over the last 6 games is identical to ours!! Huh Maybe, just maybe we can finally take advantage of being at home!! Whistle

DOWN THE YEARS

New feature, lets see what everyone thinks of it.

Our overall record against Norwich is P49 - W22 - D13 - L14 and our home record against them is even more impressive P24 - W14 - D6 - L4, which includes a record 7-0 win in 1938 but also a bad 5-0 home defeat in 2001!!!

For this game I am going back to the Big Jack era with the last game of the season in the 1981-82 season.  We had been in the top ten all season but in typical Wednesday fashion had not won any of the previous 4 games having been nicely placed in third place (an automatic spot in those days!!) and as a consequence were now in 5th and out of it!!! Angry  Angry   Norwich on the other hand were now in that 3rd spot and needed just a draw to secure promotion, although a loss would also be good enough if Leicester failed to win their last two games!!  In the end Leicester failed to win either of their last two games so Norwich were promoted!!

Couple of interesting relevant points about that game, firstly, what a cross by Sterland for Bannisters goal, boy we could do with that sort of service today!!  Also a great header by Bannister, but did you notcie the fan stood on the pitch right behind him who faked a diving header, classic stuff!!! Laugh There were 10,000 Norwich fans there that day in a crowd of only 24,687, can't see them bringing that many this time!! Whistle

OTHER FIXTURES OF MILD INTEREST

We sit in 13th currently, so at the top of the bottom half!! Whistle This weeks games involve teams we can still overtake with a win, still not looking below us at the moment out of superstition!!Cry

Millwall v Cardiff
Birmingham v Bournemouth
Bolton v Brentford
Ipswich v Huddersfield
Nottm Forest v Blackburn

ON TO THE TEAM

We seem to be back to the same 11 we have seen for the past few months.  No Hutch or Buxton due to them being made of twigs Angry and I believe Mattock is suspended after being booked against Brentford, so I imagine Helan will slot in there! Sick Aside from that I imagine Maghoma might get back into the team due to Helan moving to LB, and maybe Madine will get a shot, but I doubt it!!  I expect to see the following:

Westwood

Palmer Lees Loovens Helan

Maguire Semedo Lee Maghoma

Nuhiu May

Nice one SCO!

This is going to be a very tough test for sure, we can at times keep a clean sheet, but we really are struggling to score goals, and goals won't come easy for us against Norwich. I'm sure this one will be one the Wiziwig time warp to keep Imre happy Whistle

I'll go 21,456

AAAHH

I thought this would be appropriate and keeping in tandem with SCO, the thread is blessed by Jack the lad and his boys Thumb up

We need to stop playing 442 at home or it will remain Sandcastle Hillsborough

If it was up to me I'd start Drenthe. In spite of what Imre thinks of him all the pressure aginst Watford in the second half was due to his pace and footwork. He put in some good crosses and on another day some of those shots would have beaten some keepers.
