Diego de Girolamo is coming on trial.
As I've been advocating him coming to us for the past two years, let's hope he can convince us to give him a contract.
You can't get a more local player and an Italian international in one package. What more do we want?

Italian international at several age groups. Genuinely chased by top Italian clubs in the past. Suggests he has talent and WAS certainly good before his cruciate. I saw goals on the internet he scored as a junior. He can/could really play.
Don't think he played well at York, but he did score goals for them.
His dad has got guts and is a genuine fighter (in every way you can imagine), so has his uncle, therefore I'm guessing he's a battler. He may have a bit of a temper and a temperament, but I'm hoping he still has it and can prove it. As there were top Italian clubs chasing him the potential is that we resurrect the career of a lad who'll star at our level. If he's now a flop, well we get lots of them, but who better than us to give a local lad a go?
The man who ought to know is Bob Newton in the Club, he used to play with Diego's dad and uncle, Cosimo and Roberto after his long professional career.

Bugger !
Seriously, from his point of view it was probably the only offer he has on the table and it is a championship club.
Although i think I read they hadn't made their minds up whether he was going to be part of the first team or under 21s.
I'm sure their fans are scratching their heads over this though.

He is going to feel so wanted .........
If he's as good as he was as a junior then he's actually a brilliant signing. If not he could be a waste of their time.
If a management team he knows can't convince him to come to his home town club half a mile from where he was born .......... well it doesn't look good does it?

I would guess very much it is the influence of John Pemberton in this case
