Good first half with a very good performance. We look confident and comfortable when in possession with good pressing initially before becoming a deep, solid defensive unit.

More of the same in the 2nd half.
Damn it, Sideshow Bob equalises for Utd.
Berahino makes it 2-1. Boing Boing.
Mulumbu on for Sessegnon to shore things up. It looks like a straight swap with Mulumbu in the hole behind Berahino.
2-2 Daley Blind with a good hit.

What a rollercoaster to warm up a cold autumn night, eh?

First and foremost, I think the effort and application from all the lads on the pitch tonight was exemplary. Clarke spent a good portion of his final few months in charge blaming fans' unrealistic expectations for a negative atmosphere at the ground, but in my opinion, most fans just want to see the team giving everything they're capable of on a matchday - the result is a secondary concern - and recently we've been getting that high level of performance. It's always gutting on a basic level to come away with a draw after leading twice in a match, but realistically, when you're playing a team who can field about seven world-class attacking players, each of whom cost more individually than our entire team put together, any point is good. End of story. We'd have taken that draw before kick-off, and I'll take it now.

If there are criticisms to be made tactically, it's in the fact that we steadily drifted deeper and deeper and lacked any kind of outlet to relieve the pressure, making both equalisers pretty inevitable (and nearly inviting a winner). Given the quality of the opposition, it's difficult to see much of an answer to that - you're never going to control the midfield against Man Utd, and you're on a hiding to nothing if you try - but it was serious Alamo time around our box for large portions of the match. Something for Irvine to consider going forward.

Individually, Lescott had his first wobbly performance, but hopefully can put it behind him. Both goals were fantastic finishes, full credit to Saido and Sess. Dawson was rock-solid, Dozza showed some real flashes of genuine Prem quality once again (though struggled to contain Di Maria, perhaps understandably), and Brunty looks right back on form with some of those absolutely visionary passes which have always been his strength.

Ultimately, how good a point this is will be determined by what we do against Palace. We NEED to build on this draw and get that win on Saturday which'll shove us right up the table. Let's do it.

Well I had to watch this with a 45 min delay on Sky+ my mobile was going mad and I refused to look at it. I suspected 1-0 for half-timber as my mobile went mad at about 9:20 I feared we'd let a few goals in and had lost.

As a result, I am very pleased with a point from this so long as we take that form to Palace and bag all of the points

Whatever anyone says, that was a great result, and two great goals - though there 2nd should have been blocked. Putting my face into my hands last 10 minutes.

I think what Ska'd said is bang on - about the effort that all our players showed. It should be the case every week with every team, but isn't ..... tonight it was fantastic. I really think that the huge amount of energy showed by Dozza & Mozza (particularly), and also Gardiner & Brunty should be applauded; they, and their selection have been criticised by a lot of people and there has been a wish to see the (perhaps) higher 'flair' players given starts. Well, IMO, these 4 did a sterling job tonight and were the foundation of a really solid team performance.
Fair play too to AI, who has kept faith with these players and has also obviously got the total support of all the players - once you've got that you're halfway there. Thumb up Thumb up

Very proud of the team tonight. Everyone worked hard and there was quality and ambition that I think we totally lacked last year. 2 great finishes, good atmosphere and cr#p officials - good to see that somethings never change.

Yes, Mike Dean clearly has aspirations to be Howard Webb; or should that be Rob Styles? Pathetic pandering to United at every turn. You'd think that with the fact they can field several players each worth more than our whole team, they wouldn't need a twelfth man stacking the odds all the more, but hey ho. Welcome to the slow death of sporting integrity which is the English Premier League.
