Lee Novak won't be signing for Chesterfield or Shrewsbury. He'll be signing for a team beginning with P. That's right you've guessed correctly it's Portsmouth.
We're also trying to sign Lavery but apparently he's been offered big wages to join Portsmouth.

As much as I hate to say it Portsmouth will be able to offer more money than us it's a fact.
If we could get near Portsmouths offer on either lavery or Novak they may choose us due to closer location and a league higher.
Very true Blue and at the end of the day we have to live within our means and not spend money we don't have because we can't afford to get into financial difficulty. Short term it could see us in the Championship but in the long term it would be harmful and we need to think about the long term.

Exactly Matt.It makes me laugh when our fans blame our board because Burton got promoted.Im sure there are at least 40 boards of directors who wish they were in Burtons position.

Burton managed to do it because they kept there players together from L2 and they didn't need to sell because as far as I know they don't have any big debt hanging over them. I think keeping players and a squad together helps morale and confidence. Look at Leicester most of that team was kept from the season before when they were on the verge of relegation.
You could buy the best players and pay the top wages but it doesn't mean jack if they can't play together as a team and have chemistry.

I agree about teamwork and chemistry Matt, but I'm not sure there's so much to envy about Burton. They've done brilliantly, but if MKD couldn't stay there without Dele, do you really think next season will be any more than a brief and possibly disastrous interlude? For Burton substitute Yeovil. How many Division One Chairmen would really relish the Championship with an impossible situation as regards their crowd and a team that would need eight or more replacements to survive?
If Novak doesn't want us, GREAT, a season with us rescued his career, but if he doesn't have the gratitude or class to recognise that, hey ho! We'll be better off with someone who does want us. And that isn't Lavery for chrissakes. I'd far rather take AJ Leitch-Smith or Nathan Tyson, there's at least some evidence they can play. Lavery's a permanent loanee, no one really wants him - get thee to Pompey sharpish.
