Summer Transfer Thread
We rejected two bids yesterday from Portsmouth who are after Jay O'Shea. Turns out Pompey tried to get Sam Hird last summer as well.

Rumour that we're signing a non-league keeper who's meant to be good as cover for Tommy.

Non-league keeper is rumoured to be on loan Chelmsford City's Christian Dibble (there's a TC joke in there somewhere) he's been on trial with us and he's 6ft 4. He's at Barnsley and been on loan at Nuneaton as well and has played for Bury in the past as a trainee, has been capped for Wales U21s and Chelmsford can't afford to keep him. Also he's ginger.

Ritchie Humphreys is staying as a Player/Coach

Chris Turner has said that they are looking at bringing in a few new players and two players are close to signing for the club. He also hasn't ruled out signing Lee Novak either.

Anderson would be good
The best news for me is the signing of Humphreys.Hopefully he will carry on as reserve team manager and continue the success he had last season
I'm thinking we could be grooming him as future manager .

News coming through that Crossley's leaving to joining Shez at Notts County, which has probably allowed us to give Humphrey's a deal.

He's going to be the new assistant manager. I thought Notts County were in a lot of trouble financially because they have a transfer embargo on them.

I thought Sheri "loved Oldham": short-lived affair.

Crossley will know all the Nottingham pubs after his time there dropping crosses and sinking pints.

I wouldn't turn a third bid down from Portsmouth for O'Shea. He's talented, but he's exactly the same player we signed, for every plus he provides his own minus. If they'll pay genuine money for him ......... well do you think he'll appreciate or depreciate?

I'm with Matt over versatility. Though I wouldn't argue with Dancing over his ability at RB, O'Neil's not there very often ....... and he's one of our more versatile players, so when he's out our flexibility is also reduced. I'd love to see us sign a player happy to put in a shift anywhere on the the park.

Surely it's time Anderson's career actually started. He's been at Burnley since he was just a Hershey Bar in his father's back pocket.

Dibble would be a great signing - we could get sponsorship from the Halifax. (Strange ad' that one, is it wise to compare the house people are mortgaging themselves up to the hilt for to a three-storey dustbin?)

I still think one of our most influential players in recent years was Whitaker scoring and creating goals from midfield. However many you get out of your strikers you need some goal-power elsewhere. O'Shea has often threatened to provide it, but then goes into hibernation.

Portsmouth are interested in signing Dan Gardner.

Not surprised.Gardner's a good player on his day and can turn a game .
I'll leave it with Wilson .if we can get a fee for o shea and Gardner and he can find better out there then it's win win.

Yes I agree Pooch, but I did expect a little more imagination from Mr Cook. I'm pleased for him that Portsmouth haven't ditched him, but I'm surprised too.

On their day both Gardner and O'Shea are clearly good players, I just wonder if they are what Danny likes. He always tried, always put in a shift. Even their greatest fan wouldn't say that about these two ...... but players in Division One are down there for a reason.

I wondered if Millwall, now their season is over, might come for Gardner, to pair him back up with Lee Gregory.
