Finish off the cup final preparations again at La Manga?
#1
I must admit it's a bit of a 'tongue in cheek' suggestion but if Hibs were gonna be consistent then they'd conclude their preparations at a Spanish training complex like La Manga. My biggest criticism would be that they never earned that break yet. However, it wouldn't be a break because it would be part of a strict training and 'chilling out' process away from press/media intrusion! The other factor that 'sticks in my mind' is that this ploy has not yet produced eventual success on the pitch. So lets do the prep work at home and control any interference from the Glesca mafia/media!
At the moment Hibs are quietly going through the process of light training, relaxation and generally toning up before this crucial cup final confrontation with Rangers. The decent weather is in their favour as well. I know a lotta Hibs fans would be opposed to the players and coaching staff flying off to the likes of La Manga but there would be some advantages in doing so but not enough to convince me that it would be justified this time.

Refer to the Scottish Cup semi-final 2015, ICT v Celtic, and the Meekings scandal that wrecked the Hoops' domestic treble quest hibeejim! McLean was the referee and video evidence showed he had a clear, unimpeded view of that incident! Cool Three other ref officials didn't see it either and it proves what you can still 'get away with' as a match official and we've just observed two instances of such 'huge ref decisions' that played a massive part in condemning us to another season in the Championship. For example, had Thomson rightly ordered off Falkirk's McCracken, we would be discussing the Killie play off tie at ER. I'm hoping this time Thomson has done us a favour even though he is a devil at getting the big decisions wrong against Hibs!!! Thumb down He recently sent off Celtic's Efe Ambrose for IMO a less extreme last man pk offence (ref League Cup semi v Ross County) but decided not to apply the same rule on McCracken - rightly slaughtered by pundits on bt sport and bbc sportsound!!  But again it shows me what blatant gaffes/ignored offences refs can 'walk away from' with no repercussion! Will these refs do the same against Rangers, a football club that, together with factions of it's fans, antagonise and intimidate their perceived foes? Well lets wait n see eh!! Rolleyes

No way would a ref in england be in charge of a final after the kind of xxxx up mclean made with the meekings handball. Still it wasn't just him - the assistant ref also had a clear view (alan muir)

Woke up this morning feeling strangely confident aboot Saturday. Rangers think they've won it already so maybe a Wee bit o' complacency on their part and our guys playing the way we know they CAN play, who knows !! GGTTH

The FA also has a mandatory formal declaration required from their refs that states if they have any significant interest in a FA registered football club. That factor is taken into account by the FA when assigning matches - simple and IMO a good piece of pragmatic management of it's ref system. Our ref system is still run by dinosaurs who still don't acknowledge the rightful criticisms of so many different refs for various reasons! Thumb down

Ha ha ha!! Getting ready for European footie?? What is any Scottish footie club, except possibly Celtic, gonna achieve in the Euro qualis???
Scottish footie clubs don't generally do Euro footie because they are not good enough and that position will not change dramatically!! That's exactly why they are all involved in Euro qualis now - due to collective failure down the years!

Fair point. It looks like brendan rodgers will be named celtic manager on monday, if so that suggests a major change in their strategy and a better resourced and organised push for the group stages coming up.
