Play-off quarter-final, 1st leg - Raith v Hibs, Wed 4 May 2016

Well we are where we are after a topsy-turvy Championship season in which we really should've secured the second spot and did ourselves a bit of justice in this shit league!! it will be curious to see Stubbs' formation v an improved Raith team but one that we can definitely beat home and away. I'd luv to see a Hibs 'tanking' of the rovers on Wed night, in order to render the second match at ER to be no more than a 'bounce match' - prob won't happen but it would be welcome in order to rest more of our players. My main concern is not the supposed threat from this Raith side but the poor state of their pitch. At least it's a grass pitch and I hope they have tried to improve the worn sections that were evident in our last visit to Starks Park. It looks like all the match tickets have already been sold. So Hibs will have a huge away support to back them. It's a pity we couldn't purchase a lot more tickets and just take over their stadium for the night - it epitomises the huge difference between this level of footie club and a city club like Hibs - lets 'put them to the sword' and end their unbeaten run and their supposed challenge that some media pundits keep 'banging on about' and stop making it difficult for ourselves - misfiring strikers please note that comment!!!!!!!!! Also no frenetic match involvement please - a controlled approach required and finish them off with aplomb!! Thumb up

I think this is the period that is going to define stubbs reign at hibs. He hasn't got the most out of a very good squad of players and has been too loyal to players who's form/mentality had gone to pieces. He's delivered some fantastic cup performances against top flight sides that give you hope yet for a 2 month period our league form went to shit.

He still has a chance to redeem himself though, starting wednesday night. But its going to be hugely difficult to get promoted from this position.

Yep! Careful management of his resources during this crucial period is gonna be so important in trying to gain success this time around hibeejim!! The Hibs team that plays Raith will be a different one from the last debacle at Starks Park and I'm hoping Stubbs is tactically cute against a team that deserves respect but is definitely beatable from a much stronger Hibs side. I hope they try to attack us because that will be 'right up our street' and will 'suit us down to the ground'!

Stevo touting our recent solid defensive record and that's fine but we'd better start 'banging in the goals' now and forget the 'cheap talk' - do the biz please!!! Also does that solid defensive record mean that the roly poly goalie is in position now to extend Hibs clean sheet record?

Got my match tickets this afternoon - talking to the ticket staff and it looks like Hibs allocation is almost sold out! Should be a good atmosphere and here's hoping Hibs perform as well as their away support! Thumb up

Aye 0762, time for talking and bravado is over now. Need performances on the pitch as there will be no second chances at the end of each pair of games.......need to be still within touching distance at the end of each first leg so lets start with a good solid display tomorrow night.....even on their cr*p pitch  Doh

'mon Hibs      Thumb up

The manager is being very positive and upbeat in the press the day. I'm looking forward to it.

I thought approaches were referred to as "unsettling" in Hibs speak.

Yep! Mixu sacked this morning and McKnnon's name already being mooted by the media as an ex DU player and Dundee lad. That could suit us a wee bit with the QF ties coming up but who cares really? Lets just stuff McKinnon and his team and quickly move on to the next phase!
