Derek Statham shoots past David O'Leary at Highbury, watched from the terraces by Piers Morgan (I presume), 16th October 1982

Time to build yourself a fifteen-storey hotel on Mayfair, ask the government to "deal with" your pesky super tax and pay £200 because you ordered a pint at the Angel Islington; yes, Albion are bookending this weekend with back-to-back trips to Landon. Thursday night sees us take on Arsenal at the Emirates, then before you can say "gor blimey guvnor" and "my old man's a political correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph", it's over to White Hart Lane on Monday night to try and derail the second most unlikely title challenge of the season. For this odd odyssey, your thoughts on both matches are welcome in this thread.

Our little winless blip could well be turning into a fully-blown run of awful form as the season plods to its conclusion. All I really hope is that the players will be allowed off the leash as they were at Man City, and anything we can get will be welcome. We're due something decent. Come on Albion.

I agree with beefy here ..... can only see two heavy defeats ...... a few weeks back I thought we could end both arsenals and spuds title challenges but now I can see our season peetering out to a 41 - 43 point season, it has been a disappointing season all round.

Not sure what the future holds, what to expect or even who should lead us .... need time for the season to end and hopefully the fog will clear on our direction and plan ..... because I can not see one right now.

Wow, a photo of Glenn Hoddle actually attempting a tackle and in the process he looks like he is about to break Perryman's leg!!!! Great photos as per usual Ska'd.

Trying to remember seeing us play a worse half of football, sloppy. schoolboy mistakes and no enthusiasm whatsoever. OK Arsenal are full of class players and that provides a little explanation, but we are not a Sunday league team (not so sure about that after the first half) so should be so much better.

Only saving grace things have to get better, don't they?

Strange how we all see things differently - I thought we looked pretty neat in possession in that half, and reasonable going forward in midfield! Every team concedes loads of possession to Arsenal who are, as you say, a class act.
We seem to be more intent on harrying them further up the pitch today, which is a good thing IMO

Saido is useless
Yes he has not got much support but he can't control it, pass it, or anything......
There 2nd goal he looks up passes it back to their player....... hey presto foul committed outside the box
Goal .....................

20 million more like 20 pence Angry

We had a great 15 minute spell just before they scored and hit the bar,
Forced 4 corners in quick succession then a stupid mistake by Sulko
We could have got something out of this but hey ho .....
