What a pleasant surprise !

I wasn't bothered about going today but I went along to accompany my brother fully expecting us to lose ,they were the form team of the division and although we haven't been doing too badly I really though it was a bridge too far today and if we could get anything and not lose ground on the teams around us it was a bonus.
I have to say what an enjoyable game it was, first half we were slightly the better team although they always looked a threat . Second half we got our noses in front then I'm not sure whether we sat back or they pushed on but we came under quite a bit of pressure which led to their equaliser.
After that we had Jamal sent off for two yellows and I though we would be lucky to hold on .Not only did we do this but we re took the lead and hung on despite them hitting the post and Tommy pulling off a number of impressive saves .Altogether an impressive away display.
Everyone put a shift in but the stand out players for me were Anderson and Gboly who, when he is on form is virtually unplayable and our most valuable asset .Created both goals today ,they even put 3 on him and he still managed to get past them and put the ball in for Banks' winner .A word for Tommy too who was excellent .
On to next week and a great time to have a derby against yooonited ,us on a high and them deflated due to not making the play offs.

Couldn't make yesterday but what a great result. I cant remember the last time we went down to 10 men then went on to score the winning goal.
Sheff Utd and Doncaster at home should give us some points I would be happy with 2 but hopefully a few more coming our way.

I still think we will need more than 50 to stay up. Crewe are already down. If Doncaster and Colchester lose there next game then they are pretty much down because then they will only be able to get 50 pts and for Colchester there GD is impossible, I think 52-54 pts will keep us up. If we get a draw or a win on Saturday against Sheff Utd then it will be a good result for us but we do need other teams to help us out.

Blackpool: Rochdale A, Fleetwood A, Wigan H, Peterborough A

Shrewsbury: Bradford H, Sheff Utd H, Gillingham A, Walsall A, Peterborough H, Swindon A

Fleetwood: Oldham H, Millwall A, Blackpool H, Walsall A, Crewe H

Oldham: Barnsley A, Fleetwood A, Southend A, Crewe H, Millwall A, Coventy H

Looking at those teams remaining fixtures I would say Blackpool, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury have a tough run in but Blackpool have played 42 games which could go against them and Shrewsbury and Oldham both got 6 games in hand.

2011/12

23rd Chesterfield P42 W8 D12 L22 F48 A73 Pts 36

2015/16

17th Chesterfield P41 W14 D7 L20 F54 A63 Pts 49

At this time in April 4 years ago we were already relegated but looking where we are now and taking teams around us into consideration I would say we are pretty much safe as long as we can get 52-54 pts.

Blackpool have only one home fixture left Matt, so I guess they are playing at Fleetwood? That right, can't be arsed to look.

Shrewsbury have the toughest fixtures on paper, but more of them ....... and teams higher up are not always the toughest.

The only thing I've got right was when I said the run of games Port Vale, Barnsley, Sheff Utd was our best chances of picking up a couple of wins. But then I expected Barnsley to lose the Paint Splash and be dispirited. I thought winning would inspire them to chase the play-offs ......... and before Saturday I'd invested all my hopes in beating the Blades.

Blackpool's best hope of win looks to be their last game at the Posh, where Westley refuses to pick his best team. I know Blackpool theoretically can net twelve more points, but they'll struggle to reach 50 IMO. Rochdale are inconsistent and beatable sometimes , but Blackpool are poor away, defeat there leaves them with the prospect of motivated opposition in a local derby followed by a side trying to win the division. Their best hope is that Shrewsbury do a Jordan Spieth and repeatedly drive into the water.

Blackpool got two fixtures at home Fleetwood and Wigan which I can't see them winning. Shrewsbury have got tough fixtures and I can only see them winning 1 or 2 of there remaining 6. If I had to predict who will go down with Crewe then its going to be Doncaster and Colchester and I think Blackpool will be joining them. Pretty much as it stands now.

Matt Mate,

You have Fleetwood and Blackpool both playing each other once at home. Unless this is Quantum Mechanics it doesn't make sense. I think one of them is going to be the away team.

Just had to check it out. Blackpool at Home have won 8 drawn 5 lost 9 = 22 games played out of 23. The have one home game and three away left. And they are better home than away. They are AWAY against Fleetwood. They aren't a bad team but I'd predict them going down with less than 50 points, but I'm a crap predictor. I still won't stop feeling ill during Final Score till we've another win under our belts.

Blackpool away at Fleetwood they also have to play Wigan at home and there is going to be a major protest at the ground against the owner that, only game I see them winning is Peterborough away on the last day, think they will go down

I would probably say there down as well Maclad. Shame really because not that long ago they were in the Premier League and now there in freefall. Will Blackpool fans set up there own club or will they get behind AFC Blackpool who are in the North West Counties league?
