Not really sure what to think of this...

I think if the guy was genuinely tired, fair play to him for
his honesty in admitting it and letting someone else have
a go who was feeling 100%.

However, I can't really understand how, as a professional,
he could be tired. That's what baffles me. These guys only
train for a couple of hours per day and have more time to
rest than anyone else. Yes, he's young, but it doesn't really
add up.

If it's genuine and he hasn't been manipulated to do it by
his club manager, I'd suggest he needs to take a look at
his lifestyle, as there is obviously something wrong.

When I was 19 I'd have killed for any game of football, anywhere, at any level. Would I have pulled out of playing for my country because I was tired? Would I thump.

To be fair, he has played a lot of football recently in the PL, CL and for England, and the expectation on him to perform is a lot for a 19 year old. He looked knackered in his last couple of league games for Liverpool and his form has tailed off over the last few weeks - a lot of Liverpool fans were calling for him to be rested in their game against us as they thought he was burnt out.
