An old video of mine for the occasion. You're still missed, Laurie.

Laurie Cunningham, quite simply the best player I have ever seen. I don't think I missed a single game he, cyrelle or Brendan played in and the 5-3 night v man ure is my greatest memory. Had the honour of meeting Laurie a couple of times during his time at the Albion and he really was a genuinely nice bloke. The three of them are undoubtedly responsible for making the Albion fans the most tolerant, accepting and unracist (if that's a word) fans in the country, certainly back in the late 70s early 80s.
Just as an aside, I actually got to meet big cyrelle for the first time at the villa game a few weeks ago and as a 50 something it was still fantastic to meet one of my boyhood heroes and introduce my 11 year old son to him. Another top bloke.

The most skilful player I had the fortune to watch in an Albion shirt. If there had been any justice he would have earned 80 caps at least for England at a time when the national team was bereft of the talent he had to offer. A genius in the best Baggies side I have seen. A tragedy to lose him so young

I still thank my lucky stars I was around to see those players, THAT TEAM. My son calls me an old fart (I'm 48) but I show him these snippets of the best team we ever had and wax lyrical about those days. I loved it and My Lord what would some of those players be worth in todays market.
I remember flying back from Corfu and hearing the news Laurie was dead. I cried for a long time even though he'd moved on from my beloved Albion. Watching that video has stirred up so many memories for me. times were difficult but the football we played then was sublime and we should have and would have won the league if it wasn't for the winter back log of games we had to play.
