Scottish Cup quarter-final: Hibs v ICT
#1
This is certainly a nice distraction from the disappointments of the past three Championship matches. However, Stubbsy has been restricted in his team choice by suspensions and injuries: Cummings suspended (a second yellow card due to utter folly!), Bartley also suspended, Hanlon injured and Fyvie injured but recovering fast.
I'm guessing the manager will risk playing Stokes as his spearhead striker as IMO Farid is not fully match fit yet. He'll prob play Dagnall or Keatings behind Stokesy. Replacing Bartley, one of our in form defensive mid players, will be tricky - possibly use Dylan McGeouch but we lose an element of physicality by doing that. Hanlon will likely be replaced by Fonts and I hope the big man bucks up his ideas v ICT in a far more demanding cup tie. I don't fancy Hibs winning this game unless our front line strikers 'break the mould'  and start converting the goal opportunities that are being created. ICT? They'll be in our faces and beware their attacking set pieces, particularly with the Ox in goal! We need a lucky break and I hope we get it - that would be welcome! Stubbs has commented that Hibs can cope with the notable absences from the Hibs team and believes in the ability of his back up players. Bluff and bluster? We'll wait n see!

Defeat no.4.

A tough cycle to break this one.

Aye 0762 will be interesting to see how both managers approach the game. AS needs to be more flexible with his game plans and has been found tactically wanting of late. As I have said before I feel Yogi will play it like Morton last week.....soak up pressure and then use the pace ICT have on the flanks to catch us on the break. Bartley will be missed mainly because he gives a physical presence in the midfield amongst our lightweights. If we get some luck and Oxley makes the right decisions we may sneak it. Thumb up

As Worthing says it could be a tough cycle to break but in football you just need a bit of luck to fall for you , everything changes and confidence returns. The difference at present is we do have a good nucleus of players who seem to give their all even when the chips are down which in some sides in recent times would have been lacking. I don't know of a recent Hibs side who finding themselves 2.0 down at Tynecastle with 9 minutes left  would have come back to draw......poor tactics by Robbie or not.

So it may go for us or not but as long as Hibs give a good account of themselves I will enjoy my latest visit to Easter Road.   Smile

A fair point he made there, and clearly on topic. You've got a problem if all you can think of in response is Rangers.

Tru, I shall only reply once here as I don't need to get into a slanging match we see on this board all too often.

From my point of view it was a WUM by the way it was worded. I wanted to respond to 0762's original post which I did. I thought I answered Worthings points within this response in a polite way. I also asked a genuine question on the Harkins issue after all the publicity it has had.

If you read all my posts on this board you will not find anything against The Rangers Football Club and 99% are about Hibernian Football Club.  ( although I once did ask worth if he sang the Billy Boys  Whistle )

If you see this as a chance to start another load of slanging and abusive posts I shall not be any part of it and I hope the rest of the Hibees on here also stick to the topic of Hibernian v ICT.
