That's how it feels though. We weren't told about the rule changes by a mod it was Maddix who stumbled across it. I appreciate that we're all in different time zones and so it's hard for you to pass things on straight away but it could have been passed on properly by others who are online. All the mods should know how the wednesday board rolls by now.

Then we have 4/5 mods coming on and telling us what's what and it feels like being back at school when you're being told off in front of everyone by your form tutor, class teacher and heads of year. It's as though we're being ganged up on.

I'm probably going to have a break from posting for a bit. Dunno who's won Sleeping for the International threads. I'm going to go out, get pissed and shag some birds

There is no creeping behind anyones backs ... then let the site owners & mods copy and paste whats been said, I personally will pop on here to see whats happening , but to piss off the two main ppl on the Owls forum , enough to make them leave is stupid beyond belief, if it's about money, then get one of the site owners to PM me and I will pay the costs for them, as long as Imre & Maddix are allowed to post what they want, tits, arse and swearing , and that's ANY word, censorship is shit, freedom of speech is modern life, ppl died for it and I personally will pay for it... gimme your costs boys and an account to pay it to , but leave the Owls forum the xxxx alone, if you carry on with this you guys are going to have a sports forum with WBA, The Village ... and a Wednesday mod ....
It started so well, then became draconian ...PLEASE EXPLAIN TO US ALL WHY ????

The mods have always had a staff area both on here and on the old site where we get the chance to discuss a whole raft of things regarding the site!! This has always been the case and any decision regarding the sites have always been discussed in there before put out to the wider audience!!

Why ??

The lifeblood of any forum is the general posters, why should the mods have the right to decide what is put forward ...

DEMOCRACY NOT DICTATORSHIP ..

Jesus Wereham, you act like I am any different to you guys on here!!! I started as a poster and was asked to be mod along with a couple of others!! I spend a ton of time on here and did on the old site just to keep it flowing!! I have never held anything back and my points regarding this have been made on the forum as well as in the mod area!!! To blame me and the mods for this is a little unfair, we are reacting to what we think is the best for the site going forward, you only have to worry about what is best for you!!

A plea to all, read what has actually changed, not what you perceive to have changed or what other posters have said has changed. Mistakes were made by me and the mods, but we have corrected them and ask that we move on, and if you want a new mod to do that on your behalf then just say so!!!

Can't you get a disability allowance for Imre? Tourettes is an officially recognised syndrome these days. Surely allowances have to be made.

When I first joined the old 606, the Wednesday Forum had over a hundred regular posters and the Prediction League run by Smudge in those days had over sixty participants,

The BBC had rules. No-one used the banned word & we didn't have lucky tits but we had far more traffic & far more different posters. When we moved to New606, the numbers dropped a bit but we had more freedom.

In truth, what probably happened was that we did what we did for our amusement. We became a group of about thirty guys (all the women left) who probably got a bit self indulgent. The post from Angela yesterday said that she found some of the images posted as being offensive. I will be honest, I hadn't given that a thought but really, they are to pretty much offensive to every woman but we were more concerned with keeping our new found status quo that we didn't care what others thought.

I have tried to invite new members who post daily on the Wednesday Facebook Forum on Facebook and several have told me that they won't post on this group because of the language used. This includes members of my own family.

It is fun to live in the past in days when the men worked down the pit and women had their dinner on the table for them when they got home. Like the pits, those days have gone and so have the days when men can be selfish & ignore the views of 50% of the population. Every season the percentage of women watching Wednesday goes up yet every woman has left this Forum and none seem to want to join.

Whilst our threads are the busiest on the Forum, we no longer have the numbers that we had five years ago.

As I said before, I can see both sides of the argument here. We have got into a way of behaving that we deem to be acceptable but in reality I never use the C word and very rarely use the F word. I can live without using them and probably will be better for not using them.

The lucky tits and magic arses are fun but again, I can live without them. If we are honest, things like this have probably made the group more insular and made outsiders less welcome. Often comments are made about how many guests are on the site but never join. Maybe it is because of our behaviour that outsiders feel that they are not welcome.

New606 will never work. Owlstalk is full of rubbish. I post on the Wednesday Forum on Facebook which is good but I enjoy this group as well. If it falls apart then, hey life goes on but it will be a shame because we kind of have got to know each other over many years. Sometimes we dig our heels in & fight the changing world when really we should ask why we are fighting. Fighting for principles only causes grief and divisions.

I think that everyone should give the regulations a chance & see where we can go. We might be pleasantly surprised. We may get new members, new dynamics & more fun.

I seem to remember my Grandfather fighting for his country so we could all live in a free country with freedom of speech!

Now we cant use the F word or the C word or have pictures of tits and arses! whats next will FFS be a banned word?

Can we get Mark and Stairs to both post a picture of themselves on here so we can save them and use them for the TITS and ARSE pictures instead? Oh dear I can feel a banning coming on

I came over to this site like everyone else because of promises made! We all come on here for the banter and now one takes anyone else too seriously!

If the PC brigade are taking this away from OUR board then I may aswell just delete my account!

I agree that it should be given a chance MS, hopefully others will too after they've calmed from the initial burn. It's not so much a case of not being allowed to 'this and that'' as people can still swear, the post will turn out censored either way. Losing pictures and toning down the profanity doesn't bother me greatly as I can generally articulate my thoughts without the use of it. On Saturday's however, different story entirely and up until the match finishes I'm pretty heated. I find it ridiculous that in this day and age people are so offended by profanity not even directed at them, that it would stop them participating in a written forum where they can ignore anyone they find distasteful. Having said that I somewhat understand the aversion to profanity, it's not clever for the sake of being clever.
Again, this doesn't bother me and even when someone (especially on the internet for crying out loud) directs profanity at me, I choose the water of a ducks back method. It's a miserable hill to climb when you're letting someone's words control your life and thicker skin is possibly needed, heavens knows how such people are dealing with the real world and all its horrors.
Back to the main point again! It's not so much restriction being placed, it's the telling of people that such and such a behaviour is ok then subsequently discussing in private, deciding and implementing new rules suddenly without any prior warning. People don't like other peoples will, imposed on them with immediate effect, how could you not expect some backlash?
Are the new guidelines too much to ask or out of this world demands? No, not at all. Most of us just have a problem with the way this was enacted. They knew when the majority of us arrived and became settled that it would be too much upheaval to turn around and split the group up.. Put up, shut up or leave aren't pleasant alternatives either so its not as if the response from either side was appropriate was it?

As for poor old SCO, you are much appreciated, you do a thankless job sticking your neck out for some of us and still advocate for us despite it. I'm willing to give the Watford game a crack under the new rules, and if we find it too stifling.. then we'll just have to see how people are feeling. Smile
