Should Pulis be manager next season?
#61
4evaabaggie, great post and I agree with all you say and it's rather like the straw that broke the camels back.

I believe you have to ask yourself just one question:

Would the coin throwing incident have happened if we had a more expansive minded Head Coach?

The answer would be highly unlikely. It is down to the frustration of the moron who threw the coin and that frustration lies at Pulis' door. If the moron had seen us fighting tooth and nail and been just unlucky or beaten by a better team, it would have been accepted as it has in the past. It's just the lack of ambition, the lack of enthusiasm, the lack of sensible and obvious set-up needs - I could go on - that resulted in the build up of frustration which boiled over on Saturday.

Nothing will improve until Pulis leaves.

I'd have to disagree with you BaggieMan on that.

I was at the game and I'd put the incident down to two factors in particular. One was the drunkenness of a lot of our fans; literally looked like they'd been on the lash all of the day and there's always stupidity with alcohol involved.

Secondly there was the ridiculous approach to ticket sales for this game. Two tickets per every season ticket holder so you can guarantee tickets were bought and then sold on etc. Given the trouble at Villa Park not so long ago you'd have thought the club would have been stricter.

I'm not saying frustration wasn't a factor, but there are definitely more prominent contributors to what happened on Saturday.

It seems that the (anti Christ of football) is considering leaving at the end of the season anyway.

If he resigns will we be expected to offer compensation for loss of earnings?

Hopefully, as already suggested, JP is already considering a replacement for next season.
There are some fairly big names out there who are presently without a Club:- Moyes, Rodgers for example.
Get talking Jeremy, after all it's your big investment that's at risk here.
Some days I'm top dog, most days I'm just the lamp post.

Seems to be getting quite a bit of coverage - TP potentially leaving in the summer - albeit all prob from the same source/interview.......and it'll only increase as the press sense blood (a la LVG)!
Just hope it doesn't distract from the main aim of getting those extra 8 points we need - we've suffered enough!  Sick

Happy to chip in towards a taxi home for him - sooner the better in my opinion and it should motivate a dispirited team to achieve those 8 points.

6 weeks ago I would have voted YES but I'm now firmly in the NO corner.

I'm big enough to admit TheBaggieMan got on my nerves with the footballing anti Christ jibe and relentlessly slating TP for his tactics and negativity and what we were letting ourselves in for.

Well I'm also big enough to now admit that TBM has been right all along.

I've loved following, supporting and watching the Albion for well over 40 years, but this season has been the hardest of them all, despite relegations, old 3rd division and being propping up premier league, I have never witnessed an Albion team simply not competing from the minute they step out onto the pitch, I've been bored brainless by the attitude and tactics they've been sent out with.

I understand it's a results business and I even said I'd take points over performances but there's a time when a different type of performance will ultimately get you those points. We've gone into every single game set up for a 0-0 draw, I'll take that home and away against the best 7 or 8 in the league. But for gods sake not against worst teams than us or lower league teams. I'll bet not one opponent this season has played us with the plan or tactics to try and sneak a draw against us.

I'm sure this "never been relegated tag" is weighing TP down, he's probably rightly proud of it, but I also think its now an obsession with him to continue the record for ever more whatever the cost, whatever the standard and whatever it takes.

Well thank you Tony for keeping us up last season and hopefully he pulls it off again this season but that's it. I couldn't stand another season of this.

I want my Albion back and I want my passion and excitement back before and during a game.

Hail TheBaggieMan you were right all along, it's just taken me longer to realise it, don't spoil it by saying I told you so. Big Grin

According to news now we are eight points above the drop zone ..... No surprise there ...... what surprised me was that we are currently 14 - 1 to get relegated ...... news now state that could be worth a punt, his never been relegated tag not safe yet?

BomberBrown, it takes a big man to admit you may have been wrong and I applaud you for saying what you posted.

In reality, my warnings over the appointment of Pulis from the day his name was first mentioned was not rocket science but because as I live in the Stoke catchment area and many of my mates support Stoke thus I had what you could call inside and more intimate knowledge of the Pulis modus operendi which nearly destroyed Stoke City who had become the pariah of the Premiership and I could foresee this being repeated with us.

I could see it happening to my club who are dear to my heart and I have supported for over 50 years and I make no apology for my postings which did seem to upset some of the 'Babblers' on here !

I honestly believe that the coin throwing incident was a culmination of week after week of footballing frustration coupled with booze and would not have happened had we been playing expansive, committed attacking football this season even if we had lost. I'm not excusing the moron - far from it, but you can see where the seeds were sown and ultimately, that takes you back to Pulis and his tactics.

Again, cheers Bomber !

Thumb up
