I think both our full backs suffer under the system CC plays. He expects them to perform their defensive duties and also be a pivotal part of the attack as well. They do a lot of work and that ultimately means they will get caught out when marauding forward. A lot depends on the man in front of them to support them so they can go forward without worrying about whats behind them.

Full back was my favourite position that I ever played. I loved getting forward and took all the corners and set pieces from both sides, being ambifootstrous, but I don't ever recall being caught out of position. You just need a sensible team mate to cover for a few seconds and the fitness and will to get back in position to do your main job

If we expect the FBs to get forward and put in crosses then its inevitable that at times they are going to end up high up the field when the other team breaks, that should be expected with our system. But you are right its about the fitness levels and the adequate cover by others that makes the FBs effective.

My issue with Hunt wasn't about him getting caught upfield, attacking fullbacks will always get stranded if a move goes badly wrong and good teams keep enough shape to cover this, unless they are "kitchen sinking" at the end of a game. My issue with Hunt earlier in the season was getting caught not seeing players running in behind him or diving in to tackles needlessly and taking himself out of the game. However, he has tightened up the defensive side of his game a lot since the start of the season so I'm a lot more pleased with him than I was. Having said that, I have no real preference between him and Palmer at right back. I think Carlos sees it a bit this way and is happy to interchange as necessary although I think he maybe sees Hunt as first choice when it comes to the crunch.
Think Pudil is better than both of them!

Don't mind either way about Hunt signing.
Issue really now is about Joao not scoring. He hasn't scored in a while. Has he looked like scoring to those who go ? If Hooper doesn't sign a lot will fall on FF and I can't see us making the play-offs then. If the Blackman deal was not true hopefully we are looking for someone of similar style as we need someone like that scoring and taking pressure of Joao, FF as well as Hooper if he stays.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, you need a team....

For me, Hunt is a more expensive version of Palmer. Slightly better in my opinion, but probably not enough to justify signing him. We should continue to look for an improved RB to both push Palmer to develop and improve the squad overall.
