Huddersfield v Reading Match Thread

SATURDAY 9th JANUARY HUDDERSFIELD TOWN v READING FA CUP 3rd ROUND.

At the McAlpine/John Smiths/Kirklees Stadium or whatever we call it these days.

Welcome everyone, long standing members of the SB community, part time posters like me these days and the lurkers in the background who read but never post....and a belated Happy new year to you all.

So the turkey was stuffed at Xmas and so were Preston, we had a very good point against QPR although to be fair they were missing the whole of there first team aka Charlie Austin  Wink  and then we followed up bringing in the New Year with bringing down Bolton 'closed shop premiership' Wanderers...overall it's been a decent return over Chrimbo, I can't remember one that went as well....although that might be something to do with the 90% liqueur I had on Xmas day.....ooof!

The New year and a run of 3 games unbeaten brings new hope to the Town fans that we can kick on up the table but this week it's the cup and nothing brings excitement to a football club like a good old FA CUP run and hopefully Towns cup run starts this Saturday against the Biscuitmen from Reading.
So first up for grabs this weekend is FA CUP prize money £67,500 for the winners of this tie or roughly four and a half weeks of James Vaughans wages, more importantly the prospect of a big 4th round money spinning tie that could earn a club of our size some well needed spondoolies(Man Utd away anyone?)

MATCHDAY PRICING
£10 adults, not sure what the senior prices are and the bin lids will get in cheaper still.
Fancy going all La de daa for the day and upgrading to the WHITE ROSE CLUB £20 adults, if you haven't done it before then it's worth the effort and a cracking view, your beer even comes in a glass rather than a plastic pot!

CURRENT FORM
Rather than based on everything I've looked at Home and away form here.
Towns home form over the last 6
P6 W2 D0 L4 F7 A10

Let's hope Readings away form continues
P6 W0 D0 L6 F4 A13

WE'VE MET BEFORE.
We all know we've bored each other off the pitch in the League a few times but in actual fact this is just the 4th time we've met in the FA CUP....and Town have yet to win  Angry

Town 0-0 Reading
Reading 2-1 Town aet in the replay. (I bet it was bloody Trevor Senior)
And who can forget last years thriller
Town 0-1 Reading
I'm not sure the fans have got over the excitement of that game yet.

HOW THE TERRIERS WILL LINE UP.

Probably a 4-2-3-1 formation and this would be my best guess if we are taking it seriously this season.

Steer
Smith,Hudson,Lynch,Davidson(no other option here)
Huws,Hogg
Scannell,Lolley,Bunn
Wells.

WAKEY'S MATCH DAY PREDICTION.
Rather worryingly I'm going for a win
3-0
Last time I predicted a win we lost 4-2

Let's hope it's not a better cure for insomnia than last season's effort for those that are going.

i dont think Wagner is oging to take this one lightly its his first ever experience of the FA cup and he'll want to keep momentum up after 3 good results in a row. field a full strength first team and go for it i think

Unlike some tinkermen, Wagner isn't afraid of changing half the team in one go. He's also not afraid of making a change at half time when most would give it another 10 minutes then put two panic sub's only with 10 minute's left. If he sees the need for change he'll do it. He's not frightened of mistakes and it's showing with the players. So far he hasn't been bitten on the arse by getting an injury after he has put his sub's on. Then again, taking players off when he does (sometimes they just look knackered), maybe he avoids those injuries. I'm warming to this chap.

missing our 2 best central midfielders, best left back gone, best goalkeeper not allowed to play

still made reading look awful despite playing against 14 men, we came very close to being robbed
