You're only here to see the Albion: a capacity crowd at Old Trafford watch the Reds vs the Baggies in the cup, 5th March 1958

Two years ago, outstanding goals from Berahino and Amalfitano gave us the unexpected gift of a first win at Old Trafford for thirty-five years.  It was an eighteen month wait before we could repeat the triumph, but repeat it we did; a deflected free-kick and a heroic Myhill penalty save in May was enough to seal back to back wins on United soil for the first time since 1958.  This time it's only been a six month wait, but the question remains: can we recreate the feat of Vic Buckingham's boys in 1959 and make it a third Old Trafford victory in a row?

There's probably no better time to have a stab at it: not only have the wins dried up for the Reds since their promising start to the season, but the goals seem to have dried up too.  Of course, whenever that happens to United they tend to respond by coming at you with the kitchen sink, the cooker, the microwave and the official Wayne Rooney toaster, but realistically, that was always going to happen; what matters is whether we can weather the storm and take advantage of the pressure on them.

Leicester proved last week, like Crystal Palace before them, that our defence can be undone given a touch of pace and quality, but if we can heap frustration on the United forward line then we may come away with something worthwhile to kick off a tricky November.

Really difficult one to forecast, this - a huge part of me says that we have no chance and will be mullered; the rest of me clings to the prospect of a really disciplined performance, eked in concentration and spirit, breaking with speed (huh? Yep - pick MacMan and have Gnarby on the bench) with a 2-0 win the result.
Frustrate them for 20, 30 then 40 mins and feed off the growing frustration of the home crowd. Who knows? Big Grin Thumb up

Our away form is what's keeping us afloat really at the minute and while I'd love us to claim a third successive win at Old Trafford, I think we'd do very well to get a point from this one.

They're unbeaten in the league at home and look a damn sight better than last season despite not really firing on all cylinders so far this season.

My hope is a 1-1 and I'd take that result now if it was offered, but it'd just be typical Albion to manage to get a result here despite most of us probably feeling quite pessimistic about the game haha.

Boing boing!

Ska'd.

Thanks for the first picture - brought back loads of memories of walking up from Cape Hill Smethwick to watch the games. Nipping under the turnstile for FOC entry.

Memories not that good though. Is this the Smethwick end or the Birmingham Road End ? Keep searching to see if I am in the photo but could be wasting my time if it is the wrong end.

Have vague memories of being "paddled" overhead to the front at crowded games - glorious days !

Whoops !!

I must be of an age when you either don't read everything or, if you do, forget what it said almost instantly.

Stupid boy.

Still bought back memories.

I think we'll win this, we're meant to have a couple doubts, I saw somewhere that Brunt was one of them but I'd rather not think about who would replace him.

Hope this link works !

Believe some and the Shrine is a place populated by a dwindling number of discontented souls who are ready to chuck their season tickets in at the end of the season.

WE ARE ALBION !
