It will be interesting to see how this impacts on our existing squad. It could be unsettling for some but maybe for younger aspirational players it could be seen as an opportunity. I think this could be the 'new direction' the board bang on about. We're in a state of flux yet again and I think we all need a clear statement of direction and intent.

I wanted powell to be successful as he seemed a genuinely nice fella. and last night we played some of the best football so far this year
problem is the team selection was forced, if the squad had been fit the same under-performing seemingly untouchable players would have been in the squad
the " sold our best players hasnt been supported" argument holds little weight with me
yes we sold Clayton but brought in Butterfield, sold Butterfield brought in Huws. sold Norwood got Whitehead and Dempsey, sold Smithies , Steer has been brilliant since joining
Paterson has been great every time hes played, but sat on the bench for how many games ?
our under 21s and Academy have been around top of there respective years for a while but the players rarely get a look in unless there is no one else
Billing and Dempsey showed yesterday why they probably should have been involved in first team for longer
as for the Vaughan issue? who the hell knows whats going on there

Only 3 years? He's been trigger happy since he took over. TBH I think he needs someone like Lillis on the Board to calm him down a bit, not just to step in and make do and mend every time Deano loses his patience.

What's this new direction we are heading into?
What was the direction we were heading?
Lots of problems down at Canalside/John Smiths Stadium right now.
Chairman/board- we seem to be just plodding along with no major plan
Management- negative,dull...clueless.
1st team- threadbare, lacking real quality.
Academy/development- we can beat anybody but strangely none are up to progressing to the championship and most can't even get a decent loan move to League 1 or 2

In a word - delighted. I've been going to home games out of habit and have been to one away game all season - Powell was driving people away from the club, not enticing them in. Really not sure who's available now though:
Unrealistic:
Hasselbaink
Pearson
Lambert
Sherwood
Realistic but unappealing:
Rosler
Megson
Flitcroft
Clough

Hope we dont go for uwe rosler
Lets go for an unknown quantity. Someone wanting to step up and make his mark on a club.
Or lets go for a foreign chap that has done well at a decent level but not really known of over here. Look in the European leagues

Is Hasselbaink really unrealistic? He's only at Burton (no disrespect) but could easily be prised away from there I feel if we sold a project to him. Players would be inspired by him and he commands respect. If not I'd probably stick with Lillis until end of season. What could go wrong? if we went down at least we'd go down with full effort, commitment and some youngsters given a chance.
Genuinely am shocked he's been sacked and I really did believe he would be the manager to turn us around. Had good pedigree, good track record, built a good team with a solid defence and was able to motivate charlton players, plus he is by all accounts a thoroughly nice chap so gutted it hasn't worked out for him. It really irks me with the negativity and personal attacks on him though, got very spiteful and shameful towards the end. Hope the new man is given a proper chance before the negative nigels pipe up like british gas all over the boards.
