When he first came I thought he was going to be something special but due to whatever reasons he didn't really progress last season under Cookie ,who obviously didn't think he was worthy of a regular first team place. His form was patchy going from the sublime to the mediocre (His second half cameo against Scunny was I think one of the best performances of the season by a town player. However, he continued to blow hot and cold for the rest of the season to the extent where many fans were saying he wasn't up to league One standard
This season however ,it seems Dean Saunders and the staff have given him more belief and as a result of regular starting, yesterday was probably his best performance in a town shirt.
I really hope he continues to show this on a more consistent level and if so he could be our next big money player.

Great goal he scored and hopefully that will give him the bit of confidence he needs. That was the kind of goal Davis used to score. I know he scored 2 yesterday but he looked a shadow of the player he was with us.
Tommy had him in his pocket all afternoon and even went the right way for the pen, just missing it.
God awful referee cost us that game, pure and simple. How on earth he did not give a pen for the foul on Gardner is one of those questions that will puzzle me for years. He got fouled outside the area and ran into the area with the defender pulling his shirt and grappling with him who then finally grounds him 10 foot into the penalty area. The ref who hasn't blown during all this then gives a free kick outside the area !!! To top it all Hird plays the ball in his area, the Wigan player then falls over Hird and the ref cant wait to point to the spot.
If I was so incompetent at my job I would have had the boot years ago.
