If Cardiff ditch Doyle so quickly won't they be telling everyone they think his goals were a fluke? Won't they be saying he isn't worth much? Far better to engineer a row with him, get him to agitate to leave. Better to leave for "face doesn't fit" than "no goals in sight".
Take a look at Division 2, who is scoring more goals than most teams? Jabo Ibehre at Carlisle. How old is he? 30/32, how many clubs has he tried, transfer and loan? I'm pretty sure he was a youth international years and years ago. Suddenly he has struck the motherload, goals spilling out of his earlobes. He's never done that before or he wouldn't be marooned in Cumbria.

In my opinion Doyle was a late maturer and last season was no fluke
He would be a valuable asset to anyone in League One and even the Championship given chance.

I have some sympathy with Doyle at the moment. Apparently his scoring record last season had been noticed by the FAI and he was on the fringe of being considered for the Ireland squad, but was told he wouldn`t be considered if he was playing at anything below Champ level; that was why he was desperate to play at that level. That`s the story I heard, anyway.
So - he now seems to have the choice of staying where he is and not playing or dropping down the leagues again. Neither of these would get him in contention for the Irish squad, it would appear and, as has been said, he`s now approaching 'make or break' age (if he hasn`t reached it already). His best best would seem to be to engineer a move to another Champ side who might still remember the way he was banging `em in last season. A loan is more likely, as I assume Cardiff signed in him on a 2 or 3 year contract which he`s only 6 months into so a permanent is likely to cost a lot more than the £750k that they paid for him. It depends on how big a hit Cardiff are prepared to take and how desperately they want him off the payroll.
A difficult one, but I hope it works out for him; he did well enough for us and we should wish him well in return.

Portsmouth are apparently trying to buy him. Do they have enough money?

Doyle was a far better player in Lge 1 than he was in Lge 2. Big heavy tackling defenders don't suit his game so I would be very surprised if he went to Portsmouth. Cant see him coming back to us either and if he ever did he has a lot to live up to and I doubt he will ever hit those heights again. I think last season was a 1 off and we did very well to cash in at that time. He is a good striker who needs to get games and find the net again. IMO he would be steady 12-16 a season type of player with a top Lge 1 side or lower Champ team (Bristol City maybe).
Wish him well wherever he goes but there will be bigger clubs than us and Portsmouth looking for a player of his calibre.

Eoin Doyle deserves success. He gave his all for us and had a brilliant scoring record last season. He's a team man though, he needs to work and be involved, not just a sniffer in the box ............ Unfortunately he made a very bad choice of club in Cardiff. I'm not sure Slade will ever contemplate playing for Doyle to score the goals and the fans are so desperate for success they expect a repeat of the 21 goals. Portsmouth fans would expect exactly the same, but at least there Doyle would get a sympathetic manager keen to engineer it for him ......
To be honest if we were offered him, unless it were Novak out and him in, I wouldn't even consider it. Though Pooch could be right about his maturing late I don't really think a move to us would be great for us or him.

Deepdale bound?!
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?
