No, they pushed numbers forward to try and get an equaliser. We were just that bad and slow going forward that we couldn't exploit it.

I think we've got creativity. The trouble is, TP isn't using it.
I can't understand his tactics in the second half, to just sit back and invite Stoke onto us. That's just asking for trouble.
11 against 9, we should be running at them, tiring them out.
I just don't understand it. It's not as if we haven't got any good or intelligent players.

Embarrassing. People will say we need more forward players, but our manager deemed it necessary to play 4 centre backs for the whole of that match. Credit to Pulis for taking Yacob off in the first half, but once we had the goal there was no ambition to get a second. I reckon the players were told to slow the game down rather than counter at speed, because whenever there was a chance for a breakaway goal we never took it.
I don't really mind the fact that Stoke came at us at the end. That was always bound to happen. However we should've been out of sight by then.

They certainly defended doggedly, but we spent the second half playing at the slowest tempo imaginable and finishing off most moves with a poor pass or cross which they mopped up without difficulty.  A couple of times in the second half they left themselves open to a potential counterattack, but instead of hitting them quickly and intelligently, we instead hoofed the ball straight to the one man they had back on the halfway line.  Really, really turgid stuff from us.

The result's just what we needed, but I never seen a team huff and puff so much against nine men.
