TP: I wanted to reward Saido and Rickie but it meant we were outnumbered in midfield. I wanted to be positive - it's taught me a lesson #WBA

TP: If I had my time again I'd do things differently. I take responsibility for the way I set the team up. City controlled the midfield #WBA

He forgot about not starting Yacob, Paying 8 Million for a CB and plays him RB
Plays our much improved RB at CB

Plays Gardner instead of Mcmanaman so still lack pace up front

Where have you been for pre season TP Doh

I like tTP but he makes some strange decisions sometimes,

Rondon has just come in and I presume now we will see Saido out wide again ?

Really disappointed at tonight , Yes City are a class act but the first half was unacceptable Sad

Moving on. At the end if the season that might be viewed as a good result!

Next week v Watford is far more important as is getting a few more players into the squad. Long season and no real damage as far as I am concerned

Outclassed today. Gardner and Chester poor. McClean looked ok not great, but impressed with Lambert and Saido. Oh well, season starts on saturday

Pretty much our typical performance against City, minus the usual consolation goal. I liked the look of Lambert's free-kicks, though; unless you count Brunty's hugely deflected effort at Old Trafford last season, we haven't scored direct from a free-kick since Dozza against Stoke in January 2012, so it's great to have someone who looks sharp on that front again.

Otherwise, I think everyone else has covered the necessary ground: lost the fight in midfield, which is always fatal against Man City; Dawson needs to be back on the right, and Chester (or G-Mac) in the centre; and Gardner really had a night to forget.

Start again at Vicarage Road. Could do with at least a point to get that psychological boost, but Watford gave a really good account of themselves at Goodison and will be looking for the all-important home win. Let's just hope the thirty million Venezuelans who started supporting us at five o'clock tonight didn't think better of it by ten past eight Laugh

Besides losing, I think brunt looked good at LB... Chester is not a RB. Yacob should have started, and Gardner was terrible.

Glad I was in Wales so didn't go.
I fear there will be more repeats the like of that if TP fails to get the basic team selection right.
Surrendering midfield through poor selection and numbers against quality teams results in you ending up getting a whupping.

So, TP regrets forsaking his 4-5-1.
And he's just bought Lambert and Rondon.
Cheerio, Saido.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

Watched, on the edge of my seat.......drinking my Drambuie. What was obvious is a lack of any pace, so hopefully the new recruits will help with this. Just looking at all the other teams from the weekend, there was an abundance of pacey players. We have them, BUT, the usual preference to play players out of position will cost us this season. Crying out for the usual left and right back, Christ, sagna spent most of the match attacking.....having the usual 3 centre backs trying to act as a left back will not happen or help. The midfield, albeit a few nice touches looked powder puff, however, compared to Yaya and the rest of the City midfield this was to be expected. McClean was booed every time he touched the ball, not a great confidence booster.....the defence looked scared every time they attached, thank god for yacob, he is a right terrier, yes picks up a yellow and the odd red, but does show commitment. Watford is a very important game now, especially with Chelski the week after !!

I know its a sore topic but I was really ashamed of the idiots that boo'd our own player last night. It has been made very clear to him, by TP, that there will not be a repeat of that behaviour. Add to that he had previously eloquently explained his position in writing previously (back in Wigan days re Poppy).

Players spit, behave atrociously away from the pitch, earn vulgar sums of money, dive, hack opponents down, inhale helium and set all manner of bad examples but the baying idiots who boo'd last night don't seem to feel any of that is worthy of their spite.

Ashamed.

I didn't notice the booing last night but it doesn't surprise me. I guess people need to get their kicks from somewhere, and they definitely weren't getting any from watching Albion.
While I'm willing to defend McClean's right to make his views clear, I have to say he is a championship player and should not have been signed by us in the first place. His touch is heavy and I don't recall him putting any decent crosses in.
On a related note, did you guys hear about Alan Parry last night? Apparently in his Sky commentary he called McClean a 'Northern Irishman from Londonderry.' A pretty shameless and unprofessional attempt to troll McClean.
