What an uninspiring and unimaginative series of friendlies!

I have said this before, probably a year ago, but ...........

Chesterfield's twin town is Darmstadt. SV Darmstadt has just achieved the amazing feat of gaining promotion to the top tier of the Bundesliga, finishing runners up to Ingolstadt 04 after beating St Pauli 1-0 in their final game. They achieved this only a few seasons after bankruptcy. Wouldn't a friendly against such an ambitious German club be ideal? Especially when there is actually a better reason for it than ....... Chris Turner used to manage Hartlepool?

Wouldn't you like to see a different style of team? A team you would never normally get to see?

The return of Sir Sean Dyche. I know he's not Devs cup of tea but he always wore his heart on his sleeve when he turned out for us. Bit better than Hartlepool away! Hull and Burnley in the same week. Should give us a bit of an indication as to what we can expect for the coming season.

You're right Dancing. I thought he was completely brainless and his final ball, if he actually delivered one before falling over the wall into the Kop, was fair worse than Tendayi's, but you are also right, he did always wear his heart on his sleeve, he was always worth his place and more, because he always gave his best.

I'd never have believed he could be a manager, but he's living proof that intelligent men can be brainless sportsmen ... and intelligent players can be completely brainless once off the pitch.
