Jeff Astle Day

April 11th and the game against Leicester at home have been designated Astle Day and is being used to launch the Jeff Astle Foundation.

The F.A. have authorised the use of our 1968 kit for one match, I think this is only the second time they have ever done this, the first being Man Utd to mark the 50th anniversary of Munich.  The kit will be worn with just numbers, no names or sponsorship.

Looking forward to this game already.

Hang on. The shorts are about 4" too long. And get those poncey coloured boots off.

Numbers 2 -11 will be worn, Myhill will not have a number as per John Osbourne during the cup final 68'

I think this is an outstanding idea, Well done Albion and for once well done the F.A, a truly great tribute to a TRUE Albion Legend, 'Our Number 9'

An interesting question is who, if anyone, will wear the number 9 shirt? You would think Ideye, yet in the photos Fletcher (I presume as club captain) was wearing it. As there will be no squad numbers I assume anyone will be eligible to wear it.

Talk is that Bobby's volunteering for number 9, though the final decision may well be left until the day.
