I got up at 5.45am to watch this and it certainly killed it as a competitive game, but from a neutral perspective I may get to see a few goals!! Whistle

Did Wes Brown get mistakenly sent off for John O'Shea for Sunderland V Man Utd the other week ?

They appealed and both were allowed to play the week after so surely the same will apply to us  Whistle

Not the same situation, here is what happened in the Wes Brown incident:

"But because East has said that it was not a case of mistaken identity and that he awarded a foul against Brown, the red card will not then be transferred on to O'Shea, who clearly made the first contact and committed the foul."

The ref said he sent off Brown for a foul, the committee recinded that card after replays showed it was  a bad decision, not because it was mistaken identity.  I believe, but stand to be corrected, that if the ref admits after the game it was mistaken identity, then the card is automatically transferred to the real offender and the  ban is also therefore transferred.  I believe the ref has already admitted his mistake and it is in his report, so unless WBA appeal the validity of the red card, then the red and ban will automatically transfer to Dawson.

I wonder if we'd prefer to have McCauley suspended rather than Dawson, given that Ollson is back in at CH to cover him. If so we might even not appeal. Just a thought.

The way Olsson played against City and Villa, I wouldn't be comfortable having him in for the big games we've got coming up. He's been a great servant, but he costs us goals. Get that McAuley red transferred ASAP.

..an expected 0 points for us; none of the other teams below us won which means their chances of catching up are getting less and less.
So actually, NOT a bad weekend at all! Thumb up

Just to add to my point about more technology, this is a cut out -

After a quiet first half, Sarries' David Strettle touched down twice before Nick de Jager added a third.

Both of Bodilly's tries went to the television match official but Spencer stepped up to win the cup for his side.

So you see technology might NOT have won the cup for Saracens against Exeter - however it did.

Soccer/Football needs to catch up in may ways.

Spot on St Charles, and kept to the issue, which is refreshing..

Confirmation now of the transfer of the red card and subsequent ban to Dawson.  The following is copied from the BBC Sport website.

The FA confirms that West Brom have been successful in a claim against mistaken identity for Gareth McAuley's red card on Saturday.

Referee Neil Swarbrick admitted he sent off the wrong man at the Etihad Stadium after Craig Dawson had fouled City striker Wilfried Bony.

"The standard one match suspension is now transferred to Craig Dawson, with immediate effect," the FA says in a statement.

The good news here is the ban will go to Dawson but just for 1 Game !!!
How do they come to this,
Not complaining though,
This is also the reason WBA are not contesting it  Thumb up

Isn't the rule that its a three match ban for a straight red for serious foul play but a straight red for preventing a goal scoring opportunity is just a one match ban??? Could have sworn I had seen that somewhere!!

God knows  Laugh

I just always thought a straight Red was 3 whatever the reason and two yellows was one.

You could however be correct  Huh

Had a boring lunch at my desk so I looked it up and could find absolutely nothing on it whatsoever!!!  I did see that the offence of preventing a goal scoring opportunity is listed as a separate offence so maybe the rules are different??   As you say, its a one match ban so best keep it quiet and just get on with it!!
