Once again the curlers are quick off the mark, with Team GB Wheelchair Curlers playing in the Mixed Doubles tomorrow at 6pm against Estonia. On Thursday they play Korea at 9am followed by Latvia at 6pm.
The team are Joanna Butterfield (from Doncaster) and Jason Kean (from North Shields) and have been awarded with the Red Bold Type in recognition of their places of birth.

Catch-up time.
Followed by two narrow wins against Latvia by 6-5 and United States by 5-4, Snooty. Still much too early to call, but today's game against Japan at 1.35pm and tomorrow's against current leaders China, also at 1.35pm will tell us if we can be hopeful about the last game against Italy at 1.35pm on Monday.
Meanwhile the Mixed Team event saw Team GB lose 2-9 against Slovakia, before we take on United States at 5.35pm tonight. Tomorrow's game is against Canada at 8.35am. This Round-Robin competition carries on until Thursday 12 March.
PS - Officially the team is called ParalympicsGB, but it's still representing GB, so I'll still call it Team GB. So there!

Hope springs eternal as they say (whoever "they" are) as Team GB demolish Japan by 11-2, but slip up against China, losing 5-10 in the Mixed Doubles. China are guaranteed qualification on 6 wins, with Team GB, Japan, Korea, Latvia and United States all on 3 wins, vying for the 3 remaining spots. In reality, there are only 2 vacancies in the Semi-finals as Japan and Latvia play each other, so we must win to progress to the Semi-finals. The Italians are the final Round Robin opponents at 1.35pm.
Our Mixed Team have had a mixed start to their campaign, beating United States by 6-5 after an extra end and losing 4-5 against Canada. Tomorrow they play against Korea at 8.35am and then Sweden at 5.35pm. On Tuesday it's against Italy at 8.35am.
In the other Paralympics sports Team GB have medal hopes in the Women's Visually Impaired Super G with Menna Fitzpatrick starting at 8am, as well as the Men's Visually Impaired Super G with Neil Simpson at around 8.50am.

That was a proper collapse against China. 5-1 up to lose 10-5. They were doing so well.

And the "so nearly"s and the "not quite"s of the Winter Olympics continue into the Winter Paralympics for
Team GB.
The Mixed Doubles curlers, despite being 4-10 down with only 2 ends to go, battled back with two 3s to force an extra end against Italy. Unfortunately Italy scored the winner in the extra end. If
Team GB had come out on top, they would have qualified because of a better record amongst the tied teams. Ah well!

The Semi-finals are China v Latvia and Korea v United States at 1.35pm tomorrow.
It was even worse for the Mixed Team curlers after losing 6-7 to Korea, then 5-6 to Sweden. They are now in the unenviable position of having to win their remaining 4 games and hope that other results go their way. Looks gloomy to me. Ah well
To continue the hard luck stories,
Neil Simpson finished 4th in his event, with
Fred Warburton in 12th.
Menna Fitzpatrick has struggled with injuries this season, resulting in her 6th place finish. All of these skiers return tomorrow to take part in their respective disciplines.

Now we're up and running! Neil Simpson with guide Rob Poth have won Silver for Team GB in the Men's Combined Visually Impaired Para Alpine Skiing. Well done to them both for a great performance.
Unfortunately the curlers won't be joining them in the Medals, as they lost 6-8 against Italy. With only 1 win to their name, they now have to win all their games with one of China, Sweden and Korea losing all of theirs. Team GB play China tomorrow at 8.05am, followed by Latvia at 7.05pm. And finally Norway at 5.35pm on Thursday.

Firmly rooted to the bottom of the table, after Team GB lost to China by 4-9 and they now have to play Latvia and Norway, the two teams immediately above them. It's now a matter of playing for pride and avoiding the wooden spoon, so let's finish on a high.

Yet another defeat for Team GB, this time at the hands of Latvia by 5-8. Not only are Team GB well and truly anchored at the foot of the table, the anchor is stuck in the mud.
Canada and China have easily qualified, and Sweden currently look good for the 3rd place, but there are still another 3 teams who could catch Sweden and another 2 who could catch Korea in 4th place. A lot to play for tomorrow for each of them with a big reward at the end.
