For those of a certain age.
Today would have been the 70th birthday of the late great Laurie Cunningham.
Happy birthday mate, you are a legend and were fantastic to watch and I am proud to say you were a baggie. You brought many hours of pleasure at the shrine. You will never be forgotten, you have been joined by cyrille in a heavens eleven.

Always remember that quote from Atkinson about him; ""he could run on snow and not leave a footprint"?

He floated at times with the ball glued to his boot. He was a very special talent. I saw him in the Atkinson era he was a class abive. RIP LC

Still the best player I’ve ever seen in over 55 years of watching football. Can you imagine what he’d be worth in today’s market.
He, along with Cyrille and Brendan, had a massive impact on me as a young, white, lad growing up in Redditch. My parents instilled in me inclusivity and values that colour prejudice has no place in society which were only emphasized by the ‘three degrees’ and although Laurie, Cyrille and Brendan endured some horrendous abuse, their strength, grace, courage and personalities paved the way for a much more positive multicultural society, even though there is still some way to go. I am honored to have met Laurie and Cyrille, and honored to have them as my footballing heroes. RIP Laurie (hero)

Baggietrousers, great reply, well written and exceptional sentiment, two thirds gone but not forgotten, hero’s one and all and although some racism still remains they took massive steps which allowed many young men and women from minority ethnic backgrounds to strive and succeed in the professional game.
Brendan, Laurie and Cyrille, Albion legends, footballing hero’s, we love you all.
