Watford have signed midfielder Pierre Ekwah on loan from French second-tier side Saint-Etienne for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old began his career in the youth set-ups at West Ham and Chelsea before joining Sunderland, where he made 62 first-team appearances.

He moved to Saint-Etienne on loan in 2024 and it became a permanent deal last summer.

Ekwah's arrival at Watford was announced more than 14 hours after the closure of the January transfer window and he is their second loan signing, following 21-year-old Georgia international defender Saba Goglichidze.

The agreement includes an option to buy if he impresses at Vicarage Road.

Watford are away to Hull City on Tuesday evening, with Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling and Adrian Mariappa in charge of the team following head coach Javi Gracia's resignation on Sunday.

Watford have signed defender Saba Goglichidze on loan from 'sister club' Udinese for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old joins fellow Georgia international Giorgi Chakvetadze at Vicarage Road and can play at centre-back or on the right of the defence.

He began his career with Torpedo Kutaisi and was in their squad when they won the Georgian Cup in 2022.

Goglichidze then moved to Italy to join Empoli but left for Udinese 18 months later and has played eight Serie A games this season.

Watford are currently without a head coach following Javi Gracia's departure on Sunday, with the team 10th in the Championship.
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?
