Leyton Orient have signed Manchester United midfielder Jack Moorhouse on loan for the season.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has not figured for the Premier League club's first team, but was among the substitutes for their match against Tottenham Hotspur in February.

Moorhouse joined the Red Devils in 2022 but only returned to action last season after spending a year out with an ankle injury.

Orient boss Richie Wellens told the club website, external: "He's an extremely talented footballer. He's a midfield player who can change the dynamic of a game. I think it's a really exciting signing for us, and he is a player who has got a lot of potential."

Leyton Orient have signed winger Lemar Gordon from Premier League side Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the O's, and has the option of a further 12 months.

Gordon did not make a first-team appearance for Fulham, although he did play four times for the club's under-21 side in the EFL Trophy.

He is the 12th new signing at Brisbane Road this summer, amid a much-changed Orient squad from the one that reached the League One play-off final last season.

"I have had a great footballing education at Fulham, and I believe now is the right time to start my next chapter and kickstart my senior career," Gordon said.

"I'm really determined to make that transition into playing regular men's football and I am taking inspiration from people like [Orient midfielder] Ollie O'Neill, who I know well from our time at Fulham together."

Gordon spent nine years with the Cottagers but rejected a new deal there to join Orient.

"As a coach, it is refreshing to see a player turn down a Premier League contract to sign for a club in League One," Orient boss Richie Wellens told the club website., external

"That instantly tells you a lot about his character; it means he is hungry to do well.

"Lemar has good technical skills and he is someone we will put a lot of work into. We believe he has the potential to be a very good player for this club in the future."

Leyton Orient have signed Southampton striker Dom Ballard for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has signed a three-year contract, external at Brisbane Road, with the option of a fourth year.

Ballard has made four senior appearances for Saints, scoring one goal.

He spent the first part of last season on loan at Blackpool, scoring once in 22 games, before a similar spell with Cambridge United, where he netted two goals in 17 appearances.

"We've had eyes on him for a couple of seasons now, and there were a lot of clubs who wanted him, so we're over the moon that he's chosen Leyton Orient as his next home," boss Richie Wellens told the club website.

Leyton Orient midfielder Zech Obiero has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the League One club.

The 20-year-old has made 35 appearances for the O's, scoring one goal.

Obiero moved to Orient from the Tottenham Hotspur Academy aged 16 and made his senior debut in 2022.

His new contract has the option of an extra year.

"I'm really happy to have signed a new contract. Leyton Orient means a lot to me, and I am grateful to the club for showing faith in me," he told the club's website., external

"My goal is to become established in our first team and I am doing everything I can to make that happen.

"I trust the gaffer and the staff here, they have a great record of improving players and they are constantly giving me advice to help me improve."

Obiero has made four appearances for Richie Wellens' side this season, most recently featuring off the bench in the 89th minute of their 4-0 win at Burton Albion on Saturday.

He scored his only goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Colchester United in the Vertu Trophy last season.

Winger Ollie O'Neill has signed a new contract with Leyton Orient to stay with the club until the summer of 2028.

The 22-year-old has played 67 games for the O's since signing from Fulham in January 2024, including 15 this campaign.

O'Neill is one of only four players from the team that started last season's play-off final defeat to Charlton who have stayed at the club in League One this season.

Manager Richie Wellens said O'Neill was "one of the best wingers in the league".

"He has been a great addition to the squad since joining. His application and determination drive his own performances, as well as those around him, and he is a vital player in our system," he said.

O'Neill, who has represented Republic of Ireland Under-21s, has nine goals and 10 assists for Orient so far.

"I really admire the club's mindset and ambitions, and it's great that they align with my personal goals," O'Neill said.

"Last season's campaign was just a taste of what this club can achieve, and I believe we can really push towards the top end of the division again this season.

"I have ambitions to play at the highest level I can and I have signed this new contract because I believe I can achieve that here."
