I'm back in the UK at the end of the month until August 3rd. Should be able to at least get a few friendlies in. Looking forward to it.
The nearest team to us here is L'escala who play in a Catalan league. Ground looks good from the outside but haven't been in yet. It's on my to-do list for this year though. The negative is that it's all artificial outside of the main leagues. Still, will take a look.

Well alll our rivals are managing either to sign or get commitments to sign from released players. As we have only about four players our manager considers decent and no news is emerging about those we are (probably unwisely) still negotiating with ...... we are leaving the starting gates at Cookie pace as usual. Good players and their grasping agents want certainty. They don't want to be among the remaining free agents come the end of August. The middle of June is six days away. We start training in July. You don't win a league in the first ten games, but you can certainly lose one.
Appearing to be on your toes attracts players. Being in deep thought looks a lot like somnolence to outsiders. But this is the Cook way, every time isn't it? Sometimes works I admit.

Think he's been on or is on holiday so maybe a few loose ends to tie up first . Who knows. Let's give it another week.

The Cook way is everything stops for his holiday. Did he take all the staff on holiday with him? Have they no idea of his plans? Is he even in touch? Course he deserves a holiday, but how do all the other clubs manage? Walsall have been tracking Eastbourne's left back, do we track anyone or do we make it up on the hoof? Some idiots say that to fail to plan is to plan to fail.
Cookie has more ability to read a game than any of his potential rivals. He really shouldn't be managing down at our level. There is a reason that he is.

A -nd of course on all known form for us it is a very good signing. Orient didn't like him. Don't know what they expected.
Only about ten more signings needed. They needn't all be Markandays but I'd like them to have youth on their side. Unless political Paul Mullin fancied venturing to the town of Tony Benn. I'd overlook his birth certificate if he hasn't yet moved from Wroxham, the well-known Hollywood venue on the Norfolk Broads, (they just paid a misguided £700,000 to Plymouth for Ryan Hardie, who won't play 25 games in the Championship and won't score double figures either).

Mullin really tries. He dragged Wroxham all the way from Wales to Norfolk, sat them in Divison One and lost his place through injury .... but he's not an injury prone player. He's miles better than Madden, miles better than Madden and Fleck combined. On the other hand if we could have a 22 year-old goalscorer I'd be happy, but I think that is why some clubs started snapping prospects up in May. Lots of Premier League clubs would like one too.

Really glad Oldham have taken on Kane Drummond. Don't really see how we could have kept him even if anybody had wanted to ....... but getting himself into court could have made everyone wary of giving him a second chance. I still think there is a proper player in there. At one stage Oldham played him as a lone front man, which we tried too. Come on guys, look back to how he was playing when he was scloring for fun in non-league football. Get him out wide but give him some freedom to roam ........ And make sure he stays on track when not playing or training!!!
