WBA vs Sheff Utd & Coventry - Match Thread

The frustration goes on and on, as Albion clung on for a point at Deepdale last weekend with little sign of the ability or ambition to do any better. And so we plod on into back-to-back home games this week, beginning with the visit of high-flying Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon. Though spared the worst of the weekend's storm, we're still facing the hurricane of a Blades side whose seven-game unbeaten streak may not match Albion's ten (though both, coincidentally, began off the back of losing 1-0 to Middlesbrough) but comprises a far happier six wins and just one draw. Our last three head-to-heads have all ended 2-0 to them, and keeping clean sheets has become a speciality for them this season too, with a dozen under their belt; the joint most in the division alongside Burnley. Another stalemate for Albion here would give us five home draws in a row for the first time in twenty-one years, since Gary Megson kept our promotion campaign on course in November and December 2003 with away wins compensating for our indifferent form at the Hawthorns; it's a different story here and now, but 0-0 would, on this occasion, be a decent outcome.

Yet that's not the case on Wednesday evening, when Coventry are the visitors. Even allowing for the fact that there are no easy games in the Championship, and the Sky Blues certainly upset the apple cart a few times last season, their present struggles have them in 17th, winless (at least prior to playing Millwall today) in the last five. It's practically become a weekly motto now, but The Wins Have To Come From Somewhere. If we don't have another under the belt by the end of Wednesday then questions have to be asked.

Go 1-0 up and start messing around again back and sidewards , 2 minutes later 1-2.

Of course it was a draw - but a fantastic game to watch. Two minutes of defensive madness cost it

Only just seen the result; the write ups seem to suggest (oh blimey, I'm sounding like the BBC) that we played with much more adventure and purpose today, which is great to see, especially against a top team!

Another draw, at least it was against a top side. Think Carlos needs a bit more depth, the bench looks light weight. Nobody to call on who can change the result. Maybe the window may provide the answer. We are about where we deserve to be. Draws against the top clubs is fine, but we must learn how to beat the rest.

That's 12 games unbeaten, the shouts for Carlos out have been well and truly silenced.

I'm in no mans land, if Carlos went I'm struggling to think who would be a better replacement. Especially with FFP restrictions and no money in the kitty. IMHO we really need to focus on bringing more kids through.

You know to have played so many games and only 2 defeats is great, but too have 11 draws in them is amazing - ly bad..

I would rather we lost 6 of the 11 and won 5 = 15pts. so 4 more pts than we have now.

Even better to have lost 5 and won 6 = 18pts a apposed to 11, tht would have put us just under the leaders..

What do we need to do?

And its certainly Not getting rid of our manager.
