TOWN v CARDIFF

I just don't get it. This is the best Town squad we've had since Barry Rubery were a lad and we're mid table in the Championship. What's to moan about?

Completely agree Cas, some of them I find quite funny in a sort of charicature kind of way but a lot of them do the club a complete disservice. Get merry, support the town and sing your heart out I'm all for that, the singing section are what makes our away support I think 7th best in the country on average. But 1) cut out all the 'x place is a shithole, I wanna go home' chant, that other 'na na na na' chant is one of the most banal pieces of rubbish I've ever heard, 2) don't get so smashed out of your nut that you can't watch the game properly and 3) if you want to stand, stand at the top of the stand with everyone else who wants to, I don't want to stand for the full 90 minutes of a game because a bunch of town fans think its patriotic for their legs to turn to jelly from standing all game to show they love town and 4) I'm 20 years old and I act in a more mature and dignified way than quite a few of the town fans who come to our games. That really shouldn't be the case. The old ones should be telling the youngsters to calm it down here and there when they get a bit out of hand, not the other way round. Sorry if this sounds like a rant because I love the away games more than anything and they're the majority of the games I go to but some improvements here and there could make them such a better experience for everyone concerned.

To me the problem is the club just seem to muddle through, we've been at this level for 3 seasons now and I was expecting better this time, last season was dire but this has been worse. The club continually make the same mistakes season after season, constantly trot out the line about budgets, at the minute the club are just treading water and if we continue like this it's only a matter of time before we succumb to relegation. I would prefer to see the club in the Championship, make no mistake about it but its become a right chore going to games of late, the club seem to show no ambition, no urgency to make any signings in the window, aside from Edgar who is a waste of space, no urgency on the pitch either if Saturday is anything to go by. I'm not expecting promotion to the Premiership but that has to be the ultimate aim, we are no nearer getting promoted in real terms than we have ever been despite being only one league away. The club need to get a grip to stop fans drifting away.

Another thing that gets my back up is the lack of cup success, in either cup. Bradford reached the League Cup final a few years ago and are playing Reading for a shot at Wembley, what do we ever get? Nowt, thats what. Furthest I've ever seen Town go in the League Cup is round 4 and I've been going 30 years, the FA Cup is only slightly better we've had a few round 5's but nothing after that. These kind of things grab fans imagination, at the minute there is absolutely nowt to grab the imagination down at Town.

The quality of football on offer, the constant lies from the higher-ups in the club, the lack of bottle from the manager. The biggest disappointment for me this season has been the overall lack of ambition - Wednesday, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds and Reading are all examples of games at HOME to teams who we should be looking to beat, but instead set up to not lose and ended up either sneaking a draw or getting beat. Powell is extremely negative and the performances for the most part this season have been no better than last season under Robins, just we've had Vaughan fit more often and the defence hasn't capitulated as badly. I want to be entertained, I want to support a team who try and play expansive football and bring through their own players - I want this because it's what's been promised for the last 5 years. PATHWAYS my arse.

I'm not a fan who will accept sneaking a 1-0 win by playing defensively, being solid, working hard and scoring a goal from an aimless hoof. I'd honestly rather lose playing the right way, which is why I stood by Robins as long as I did, he at the very least TRIED to play good football and among all the dross there were still games where we looked decent. That's gone, Powell took over a side Lillis had made his mark on, got the best out of them for a few weeks with the same model, then changed things to his way and it's been depressing ever since. At this rate I doubt I'll be renewing next season, and the club will see a massive decrease in attendances regardless of results.

Stats would show that we were actually better last season, only by a point mind

2013/14
Pos14th, 10points from the playoffs,13 from the relegation spot
P32 W11 D7 L14 F40 A44 Pts 40

2014/15
Pos16th 17points from the play offs, 8 from the relegation spot.
P32 W10 D9 L13 F41 A53 Pts 39

It's all a bit samey for me.
The club thinks it's safe from relegation and farms players out whilst not recruiting to what from the outside looks like a cost cutting exercise.

How depressing is this....

Not depressing at all. Why tell the opposition what you are up to?

Not as depressing as the "I'll take a point every time, you can never have a bad point" nonsense he spouted after Saturday.

I've given up on that place mate, not worth my time! Full of rose tinted idiots who'll show blind faith no matter what & doom mongers who'll slag anything off then go quiet when we win. No room for any reasoned debate.
