Stairs, not really seen much of us the last few years for reasons I have well documented, only seen a smattering of highlights, value your honest opinion. Do you think we can win the second leg, or even draw and win on penalties.

Feeling a little despondent with the current situation. Always love the Albion, always want the best for us, but years of disappointment makes Friday hard to call.

Pssst.... quick....
.... put a tenner on us to get to the Greed League.

We all know what we're like - normally lose against the lesser teams, hit the heights where WE'RE the underdog.

What are the odds??!

By all accounts BTA was pretty sh*te (again) today..... surely either Weinmann or Maja has to start on Friday with the other or BTA coming off the bench if necessary after an hour?

I think we had a good go and did as well as we could with the squad we have.

Unfortunately we're desperately lacking quality at the sharp end of the pitch and couldn't force the goal.

I had my rant about BTA after the Sunderland game and although it was harsh on a player who works hard, I just don't think he's a Championship player. Trampoline first touch, dwells on the ball too long when simple lay offs are staring him in the face and can't finish either. Unfortunately with Maja not even being named on the bench, I assume he's had a recurrence of his injury and his season is over.

With the lack of a forward threat, it felt like our best chance of scoring would be from a set play...

We came out of the blocks fast and forced plenty of early corners, but credit to Southampton, they defended the box as well as any side I've seen this season.

After our furious 10 minutes, when the game settled, it felt like the game could've gone either way with both goalkeepers making good saves. Southampton seemed to have more quality and control, but at the same time there was always a chance we might nick the ball when they overplayed at the back. But it wasn't to be.

Leaves us with a tough tie away, given our record.

I just hope we're able to recreate the Leicester performance, which is the one stand out performance away from home. I don't expect anything, but then again, sometimes that can work in your favour.

Slick. Totally agree, especially the BTA comment. Personally I’d rather Wallace had that role rather than be on the bench.

It’s just one game and if they lose a summer on the beach and so they need to lift their game and deliver the Leicester style performance again.

If they do, it could end up being penalties and I will be carted off to hospital with a cardiac arrest.

You did indeed and I was one of those to mention it, however this time I have to agree BTA's has had a big drop in form of late and more importantly his decision making has been positively poor, usually holding the ball for to long and trying to do far to much solo. I still think there is a Championship player in there, but for the time being he needs to be a number 2 or 3, to be fair to him, there is a massive amount of expectation put onto his shoulders for a number 3 striker and I think sometimes that forces him to try to hard and make the mistakes which he is.

Agree about BTA. I’ve been one of his biggest advocates but chances may be few and far between tonight, and his conversion rate is falling. If he’s fit enough to last an hour, would it be worth trying Maja up front and using BTA for the last 30 minutes against a tiring defence? It’s just that I’ve never been totally convinced about Wallace as the central striker

I would be inclined to make a few swap arounds to the starting line up tonight, across the back I'd stick with Furlong, Bartley, Kipre and Townsend, in front of them two ones, Okay and then Mowatt (rather than them playing side by side, just for the extra cover), up front Diag out on the left, Wallace on the right, Swift in the middle and Maja up front. A 4-1-1-3-1, perhaps Johnson instead of Swift, but I would want Diag out on the left for this one, I think Kyle Walker-Peters can easily match Johnson for speed, but I am not so sure he can beat Diag in the tricky finesse department and can see him getting carded very early against him. Good job I am only an armchair manager eh Big Grin Big Grin
