LE2 7FL

Kick-off 15:00 UK Time
Monday 01/01/24

Over 20 years ago, Leicester moved out of their old Filbert Street ground to a brand spanking new generic box of crisps style stadium just a few yards down the road. Over 20 years later the developers that bought the old ground have turned it into a small block of flats for stoodents and er, a car park and derelict land. Doh

[Image: 0_006CG_TEM_210319FilbertFilbertJPG.jpg]

Apparently there are now plans afoot to build more stoodent accomodation and a block of, er, affordable flats and some terraced housing.
Affordable to who will remain to be seen.

So, back to the football.

After a record month for dullness in December, according to the Met Office (they must be Town fans too) we are hoping for better things to come in 2024.
Kevin the Gerbil

is moving into town from the USof A'sville for the whole of January, apart from the bit before he arrives, to mastermind our plan to achieve mid-table mediocrity this season and dominate the Championship in 3 years time. Whoop-de-bloody do. Chalk me up for the "I'll believe it when I see it brigade." He'll be the first Chairman I can remember to "really invest" in the squad if he does. Yes I know Deano spent a bit more than thruppence in his time in charge, compared to others, but he pulled the plug when the going got really expensive, even by his standards. What's not to like Rat-fans? Yeah!

It's a bit of a hike from Leicester station to the ground, but good pubs to be found on the way there and back. If you're going you are likely on your way anyway.

It's all in here

Latest news

I've got to remember to put the right year on the two cheques a year I write. It's an old git thing - see ritchie.

Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating

It's starting to look like it's easier to say who isn't.

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame

Well, I'm still looking for a Presser? Any clues? Anyone?

Last time out

Town managed to control the excitement of battering (by our standards) Blackburn by coming 2nd to a Boro side that hadn't won a Yorksha League game up to that point. Generally speaking the performance was deserving of a point at least as both sides put out less than full strength starting and bench filling squads due to injuries.

The Foxes continued their march back into the Prima Donna League by battering(?) Cardiff 0-2 in that there there Wales.

Elsewhere, The Baggies did everyone a favour by beating L666s, but down amongst the deadmen Rotherum drew with Blunderland, Wendies won at Both ends (wtf themaclad?), QPR did me no favours by nilling Ipswich, Wayne's World 11 improved by drawing 0-0 with Brizzle, Smoke drew at Watford.

Music

How's your head today? Went out for a Chinese last night and despite my best efforts with liquid anaesthetics and being home for 10:30, I was still awake at 2:00 this morning. I woke at 7:00 to put the bins out. I'm still awake to do this, fortified with Milk and Alcohol. Passing on much of the local music for this game, can't be bothered to look for any. Just ask Alexa to play Leicester music.

Might have to go down to the doctors later this week

Haven't a scooby where they are from, just thought way more appropriate Tongue

The Sack Race

....and a Happy New Year!

Just when you thought the Uncle Scrooge's in the boardrooms of England couldn't get any meaner, poor old Lee Johnson picked up his 2nd P45 of not just 2023, but this season on the 30th December. Doh Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke Tongue.  They might just be singing when they are fishing in Fleetwood once again. As far as I'm aware, no new appointments, but watch this space.

Tables

We are seriously not bothering them

They can't all lose

Rotherham go to Blackburn, who knows? Wendies home to Hull to kick off the 2nd half of The Yorksha League, QPR home to Cardiff. Wayne's World 11 are at L666s, so a good result for us today ....... Nah, we'll be we're we are.

Next up?

Blue Mancs next Sunday in the FA Cup

Pressers

Probably about 30 mins before kick-off, if we see any.

Well, thanks to Snoots, ours is in the back end of this one - around 12:30

Nice one, theo and a happy new year to you too. Thumb up

If we come away from the next two matches with less than double figures conceded, it will be a miracle. Well maybe not a miracle, but will have to involve City and City not getting out of second gear.

If we get to half time in this first one without conceding, we might have a chance, but as soon as the first goal goes against us, it'll be floodgates opening time.

Sky Sports News was reporting yesterday that Leicester are signing somebody from Liverpool on loan. Has he signed yet? And have we signed any unattached, nobody wants, strikers yet?

Or even recalled Jordan Rhodes?

Oh and Showaddywaddy are Leicester's top band. Big Grin

The Town website has Moore's pre match presser as part of his post match comments against Boro.

No I haven't watched it.

Cheers Snoots, Thumb up I looked on Town's website and You Tube but didn't see the presser for this but didn't realise it was part of the Boro jobby, I will look again and add the link.

Meanwhile ... if You've Got What it Takes, Under the Moon of Love, there's a Dancin' Party going on on the Three Steps to Heaven.

PS I'm listening to Radio 2, not glued to Sky Sports Nudes.
Not expecting any developments today as, even if Kevin The Gerbil hops on a plane today, he won't be here until tomorrow.

Listening to Radio Local with Sky Sports News on mute. They were showing pictures of Town warming up at the King Power. So put the sound up to see what they were saying, particularly as the cameraman was following REG around.

No. They were talking about Leicester. Nothing at all about us. Rolleyes

I see some optimist elsewhere said welcome back Jordan Rhodes, well if he's in the building he's not in our squad. No surprise because he's in theirs.

Seems to have removed their post since.

I'm expecting nowt from this game but that change of personnel didn't work out well. Not that Moore had any say in the change other than who he sent on.

A well taken goal by Bobby Ball's mate. Only their second on target of the half, in the 40th minute.

How we're ever getting owt from this I don't know.
