2023: January Transfer Window
Slick, you say your expectations are zero, I am surprised you rated them that high, mine have been less than zero since we started hiring people like Pulis, Bruce, I would list them all but I can't spend that long typing. CC gives hope and his style is better but he needs the tools for the job, the only stopover have are the right tools in the recruitment department. LoL

But this year my expectations are zero, so it's pretty much impossible for me to be disappointed, whatever the outcome.

I suppose that's the one positive about our dyer financial situation...

I expect us to sell everyone that we can get a bit of cash for, and replace with anyone we pick up for nothing. Just so we're able to field a side.

I don't expect us to be able to pick and choose who comes in. I think we'll be left with players nobody else wants. Corberan will be tasked with performing a miracle to get us into the playoffs.

The strange thing is, I'd typically be gutted at the prospect of selling our "top" players and replacing with freebies. But with our current squad, I'm not really endeared to anyone except for Okay Yokuslu and Grady Diangana. And in the case of the latter, it's for his exploits years ago. I could see sense selling him given his performances in the last 2 years and his injury record.

I do think fans would kick off if we sold BTA to Stoke. Firstly, he's a likeable character who works hard. Secondly, it would make a mockery of the club if we sold a fan favourite to Stoke of all teams. That said, I'm still not convinced he's able to lead the line on his own at this level and see him as more of a good League 1 player. I can't imagine he'd be the man to fire Stoke (or anyone else at this level) to promotion. However, if he did go, the club would have to replace him with someone to excite the fans. That's the one deal which would need serious appeasement.

The sad thing is, if anyone is sold for cash, we know the money will just disappear into paying off debts and the Chinese "black hole". Nothing will be reinvested into the playing side. I think today will consist of us calling every club we can just to see if there's anyone they need to loan out to get them off their wage bill.

I just feel so bloody angry at the thought we are even contemplating selling BTA. We have no strikers of note and whilst I partly accept your observation that he cannot lead the line, I strongly feel there is a really good young striker in there and it pisses me off that we would sell him to another championship club just to pay off the debts that Lai has inflicted upon us. This guy is systematically trashing our club and there is no end in sight.

No doubt, if we sell BTA, we'll get a last minute donkey in as per other transfer deadlines....Victor Anichebe anyone?

Reading between the lines from CC's press conference today, it seems he expects the Reggie Cannon deal to go through, but that is that as now he is talking about needing one, where before if you remember, he talked about needing two, to me that implies that is it expect one. Far more worrying is the intimation that anyone who leaves will be replaced from the free agent market, this of course means that whoever leaves will be replaced by someone not as good or the team purchasing them would have signed the free agent themselves. Feels like its going to be a painful night.

Good link-up player - Pipa passes (sorry, crap literary joke, google if needed).

That will be it for tonight but I guess a few free transfers are possible in the next week. Not that I am expecting anything.

Has Pipa been playing or is it one where we'll have to wait 6 weeks before he's considered ready to sit on the bench?

Really only expected the bailiffs to be incoming. But they work outside the window as well.

Well just spent a bit of time trying to find video of Pipa, from what I could find, I have to say he has the instincts of a really good player, unfortunately though his actual skills do not match the instincts.  You tube ?v=qd_miBBQJX8

Not a transfer involving us (thankfully), - remember this one? Yet another gargantuan waste of the club's money

'Birmingham City have announced the Deadline Day final hour signing of attacker Oliver Burke on a season-long loan deal from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.'
