Over and out.
Tom Whelan gets a two-year deal at Boreham Wood. Good luck to him. I liked him, but I don't think we'd have played him much this season.
Got a bit too involved in trying to run the game, but I suppose that what public school does for you.

It doesn`t come as any surprise to me at all. I seem to recall that Cookie was quite critical of him after the play-off defeat at Solihull last year and I don`t think he was ever really his sort of player. As you say, Dev, I think he`d have had precious little plying time with us this year so best for all concerned that he move on.
He always seemed a decent player to me, though, and I wish him well.

I think there.was a fall out between him and Cook. He was in the team and playing well then suddenly dropped and out on loan.
It must happen, best to part company and get on with life rather than letting things simmer for a long time.

Yes, I agree. I think he is well-capable of playing EFL 2 for certain, but there is also something about him that just keeps him at our level and moves him from one club to another, often doing a decent job but always finding something to prevent him taking that step up. I'm often keen to blame Cookie for such things, but in this case several managers have reached the same conclusion. I too hope Whelan does well at Boreham Wood.

Dallas to be announced later today. Things really are getting interesting.
When was the last time we put 9 past anybody friendly or not? We are building some strikeforce let's hope all the signings don't mean someone is leaving us.
It does look like Asante and Rowe are on the way out either to new clubs or finishing completely.

I think it`s inevitable that there are going to be some outgoings, otherwise we`re going to end up with a squad like a Cecil B de Mille cast. DW as good as said after the Matlock game that Gyasi is away and I agree with you about Asante and Rowe. (Quigley as well? I suppose it depends on whether PC wants to play 1 or 2 up front.)
Cookie said last year that he wasn`t happy with the number of goals that we were putting away and that he wanted us to be more clinical in front of goal. If we have Grigg and Dallas – and in my book that`s still an IF until it`s official – with the potential for goals from behind them in the form of Dobra, Colclough et al I`d be astonished if that turns out to be the case this year. Barring injury issues, this squad should be full of goals.
It`s difficult to be completely objective about the Matlock game. I did go along on Tuesday as intended and have to say that until Mandeville`s goals after the first half-hour or so it was a fairly even contest. At half- time we brought on some of the `big guns` - Grigg, Colclough, Dobra to name a few – and it became an avalanche after that; we could have scored even more. Whether that`s entirely down to us or whether Matlock brought on their second string or tired it`s impossible to say, but what was noticeable to me was that we showed no sign of easing up when the goals started to go in. We were pushing just as hard in the last 5 minutes of that half as we were in the first 5. Maybe that`s a sign of the extra ruthlessness that Cookie wants.
The bloke I felt really sorry for was their `keeper. Having let in 9, you would assume that he had a shocker, but he didn`t. I can`t remember him being glaringly at fault for any of the goals and he actually pulled off a couple of very decent saves that stopped us getting double figures. Who`d be a `keeper!

The worst I ever let in was 11 and the referee came to our changing room to tell me that it was one of the best goalkeeping displays he'd ever seen, that I shouldn't be downhearted because it could have been 30.
Let's see what Matlock do when they play Derby and Mansfield. They've never lost 9-0 before, and it doesn't seem a very friendly thing to do to them ...
Let's hope Dallas runs faster than he signs.

This (latest) rumour about Dallas signing seems to have been nothing more than that - again. It`s going on so long the Ewing family would have been proud of it; we found out who shot JR quicker.
If - as seems to be the case - he has 3 or 4 clubs after him and either he or his agent is playing them all off against each other I`d be inclined to wave goodbye and take on this young lad Harley Curtis instead. He would be a hell of a lot cheaper, he`s only 20, has all of his best years ahead of him and he looks to have bags of talent. He certainly looked the part at Matlock and, although I didn`t go to Alfreton, he looked pretty good there too apparently. Just a thought.
