we must win our game whilst preston beat or hold sunderland to a draw and blackburn beat millwall. a draw for blackburn and millwall
would still work if we win by a 2 goal margin which would best millwalls goal difference by 1. It might be worth a wager because the odds must be
small of this all happening. as 4EB says Its the hope....

I think you are forgetting Coventry in all this. They play away at Boro and if they lose then the four teams below them could all overtake them as well. Of course with Millwall playing Blackburn then one of them at least will fail and Blackburn probably have less chance because of GD but for Sunderland and you Baggies it might come down to how many you can win by as to where you finish!!

Val your almost correct if Millwall draw 1 - 1 and we win 1 - 0 we still go above them on goals scored. With the right results fifth is achievable but I won't be holding my breath. Coventry lose by three we win by two, depends on goals scored again.

Here's hoping ... Come on you baggies.

oh yes of course that is also a possibility and boro away is a tough fixture.
yet more intrigue then all I know is Ive ordered a new tea towel because during the last 7 minutes
of the great escape I managed to chew my way through one waiting for those final whistles Big Grin

Swansea is on the Welsh South coast, let's just hope their team is on the beach wearing sandals and lazing in their deckchairs.

Knowing the Albion as I do, we get ourselves into potential glory positions then internally combust, Ipswich Highbury 78, QPR Highbury 82 Spurs over two legs 82, many many others to choose from, we will be down the cut, sat on a rusty trolly eating battered chips lol

Only thing you can draw from that is we don't have much success in London  Whistle  Joking apart I will always remember coming back from that Ipswich game and the train passing Wembley which was all lit up. Do you think i should see a therapist about that.  Cry  Cry

I was probably on the same train, going into London we passed wembley in a nano second, on the way home we travelled at the same speed but it took three days to pass wembley, I remember staring out the window aged just 12, heartbroken distraught thinking what could and should have been. That was where my Albion heartache began, I had been a baggie five years by then, but that team so talented, so entertaining, so full of promise, so full of let down. Apart from a bad winter and an Albion fixture backlog not suffered by Liverpool, we would have been champions. Instead we played 500 games in three hours, dropped from the pinnacle to finish third, Then all those nearly nearly semi finals, oh the pain, the trauma, the mental anguish ...salop does your therapist do group sessions and discounts ..... Can I come with you?

Sounds about right, I was 18 by then, that was probably the best Albion team in my memory, to many legends in that team to mention so I'll just stick to that game.  Imagine this in the modern day of fall over because someone runs past within 10 feet.  Big Grin

John Wile, what a man, what a captain, what a warrior, he would run through a wall for the Albion, what a legend, what a great, under rewarded team that was. Not these modern, multi million pound, buy success teams, a team built on a shoestring but run on an engine fuelled by blue and white striped blood.
Thanks for the memories and the joy.

Yup, that team was something else, and would probably have won the league had it not been for ridiculous fixture congestion.
A real golden era for our club, and football generally; I just can't stomach today's game Sick
