Now that will take the bisquit. At least it'll give us something to chew over whilst we think to get rid of the china man.

I'm as pleased as we all are of how events have helped us over the past week or so, having thought we'd done ourselves no favours getting 1pt from 6 over easter against bottom teams.

1. i have 2 concerns - one to get players back on the pitch from injury
2. even if we make the play-offs can we beat luton or middlesboro?

everton i believe are to be deducted points as much good that is with the points they have??

Never a penalty that. But that makes up for the one you should've had earlier.

We are lacking in possession, not had many shots, none on target from open play, but we have the lead. Sunderland now have to commit more forward, if we can defend, chances will come out way.

A touch ironic and the timing could not have been worse or better depending how you look at it. The wife was watching 'The Sound of Music' while i was watching the football, as I took the headphones off after the game I hear:

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say "cuckoo"
Regretfully they tell us, but firmly they compel us
To say goodbye . . . to you
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night

DD#No1  Dodgy  Dodgy

DD, a little harsh, still in our own hands mostly, we win our three games then Coventry would need to win both of theirs and Blackburn would need seven points from nine. It would then be goal difference.
If we win our three then these are the only options to affect us.
Millwall finish off against Blackburn.

Sunderland and Millwall maximum points 71
Coventry 72
Blackburn 74 but would take three off of Millwall.
Us 72 with three wins.

Blackburn's form not great.

Coventry play home to blues away to Boro
Sunderland home to Watford away to Preston
Millwall away to Blackpool home to Blackburn
Blackburn home to Burnley and Luton away to Millwall
And you all know ours.

Any care to guess each teams points return,
I think three wins (maybe even two) for us would do it.

I think the lads tried hard today, but with the injury crisis, we just don't have the quality.

If everyone is fit, we should have a top 6 squad and no doubt would've a playoff spot already if Carlos was in charge all season. Possibly we'd have even been in the shake up for automatic.

But this XI just isn't good enough. There's just nothing up top. No creativity in midfield.

If you look at Sunderland today, their attacking midfielders of Jack Clarke and Amad Diallo would would into our first team easily. Diallo is head and shoulders above any of our "creative" players.

Dike, despite not firing on all cylinders when fit, is a massive miss as an option to cross it into, or go direct to.

Grady is a big miss when you need that spark. Even Matty Phillips as an alternative wing option.

If I was to be critical of Carlos today, I'd have liked to have seen him play Bartley and try to take advantage of Sunderland's lack of height at the back. Sunderland were the better footballing side throughout, so after they equalised I think we should've quickly tried a more agricultural approach. Pieters is our best defender on the ball, but doesn't offer any threat from set plays so it made it much easier for them as they were only defending against Ajayi.

I don't see us getting anything from Sheffield United to be honest. But it's a strange old game so you never know. If we are to, we might need Bartley in the opposition box, like at the start of Carlos' time.

100% Slick.

Mowbray has a young Sunderland team purring, after they survived the first 20 mins. Bartley could have been the difference in that first half.

CC can’t be blamed, too much, he inherited a relegation team and without being able to bring players in and then losing players through injury he has performed a miracle.

Never say never, but assuming we stay in this league it will be fascinating to see how we change the squad over the summer and what team steps out next season.

Sunderland, and many more clubs are coping without parachute payments and big money owners and so a well managed team can win this league.

Well I got the score line right for this one just the wrong way round doh! But then I had forgotten about Mowbray factor ex manager back to haunt us. Personally I think that was our best and last chance to get in this top 6 I hope I’m wrong but I’m sticking to my prediction of a loss away to sheff utd and a win against Norwich but Swansea are on a great run so I’m changing my draw to a loss there as well 3 more points = not enough
