January transfer news and rumours
Last time I watched those 2 play was a development fixture at Brentford this season. Funnily enough Jordan Sinnott was playing right back and Matt Crooks Center forward. It was if they were trying to find a position they'd be good in...they weren't.

Danny Carr loaned to Dagenham for the rest of the season

Read earlier that Cardiff had released Maynard. Even though I didn't fancy him, I thought maybe offer him a short contract to end of season, and try earn a longer contract. Looks like we have done exactly that with Miller instead. Not a bad deal in my mind. Lets see if he can impress!

That's it according to Towns Twitter feed.

So let's sum up this transfer window.
Stead,Ward,Hammill,Paterson,Peltier,Dixon,Sinnott,Crooks and Carr all effectively out in way or another as far as this season is concerned

Edgar and Miller in.

Realistically, did anyone expect anything more from incomings? I know what we all wanted but to get rid of that many deadwood I don't think even the most pessimistic town fan would have expected. Now hopefully we can get a couple loanees in as cover. Powell did say a lot of prem teams like to wait until the windows closed to analyse their squad before letting reserves go out on loan so still some business to be done there potentially.

Once the Prem clubs sort out their 25 man squads there will be plenty of good players looking to get a game. How much they'll cost, even as loaners, is another matter.

So good I said it twice.

Anyway, this is on the Beeb deadline day page and brought a smile to my face.

There will be no incomings at League One Peterborough, and chairman Darragh MacAnthony is not happy. MacAnthony claims a Championship club has failed to make an agreed large payment preventing Posh from strengthening their squad.
"Truthfully it is a disgrace and their chairman is the same," MacAnthony says on Twitter. "It has put us last minute in a terrible predicament which I shall now fix and once the loan window opens, we shall bring in a couple of players to help the squad.
"It's also a shambles the Football League allow this nonsense to carry on and not for the first time. I'm also sure we are not only club who it has happened to but the knock on effect is outrageous and doesn't help a club like Peterborough that's for sure!"

Town seem to have totally lost the plot this window. Its embarrassing.

Art- we are driven by financial results.

Town like last season obviously think we have enough in the team to avoid relegation and have gone on what looks like a money saving cull. Myself I'm not convinced especially after we picked up injuries to key players at the weekend.

Millwall away this weekend is a massive game for us, win it we give ourselves a bit of breathing space, lose it and we are just 4 points off the drop zone.

Also worth noting that certain fans are starting to doubt Dean Hoyle, plenty have been shocked about the way he spoke about some of our fringe players at the Q & A before the Leeds game.

I don't think anyone can doubt Dean Hoyle. After all he has put in £37M in over the last 6 years.
We are getting rid of average/mediocre players now and taking a gamble that when the loan window re-opens on Monday 7th Feb...that Prem quality will be loaned to us.
We'll have to wait and see if that happens, but we are in a much stronger position financially to do that now.

Even after shipping out a slack handful and a bit, this lot have all got squad numbers.

Goalkeepers
1 Smithies 13 Murphy 31 Allinson 36 Wilczynski 41 Guthrie
Defenders
2 Edgar 4 Hudson 5 Gerrard 15 Wallace 17 Robinson 25 Carroll 27 Smith 33 Lynch 38 Boyle
Midfielders
6 Hogg 8 Butterfield 10 Coady 19 Holmes 28 Gobern 29 Billing 32 Tronstad 39 Wilkinson 42 Atkinson 45 Majewski
Forwards
7 Scannell 9 Vaughan 18 Lolley 21 Wells 30 Bunn 34 Charles 35 Bojaj ?? Miller

32 players Exclamation

The BEEB (and me) don't know what squad number Miller has yet, hence ??.

Hammill, theoretically at least, can still come back onto this list though likely he'll be loaned out again or Rotherham will extend the existing loan. Carr is also down at Dagenham.
