Unless they're LED's but I don't think they are
Still it makes it easier to pick your way through the roadworks on Leeds Road.

Kick-off 19:45 UK Time
Tuesday 18/10/22

Every season (almost) it seems at least one club that either just misses out on the play-offs, or blobs in the play-offs, falls like a stone the next season.
There's no way that's happening to Town I said - er, except it has and not just us either (looking at you Boro) and Coventry have barely won at all in 2022.
The excuses need to stop and the goals need to start going in, for us anyway - don't care about the other two.

Another hoard of them there Lancastrians head across the Pennines on Tuesday night as Preston Both Ends turn up for what could oh so easily be another not so rip-roaring 0-0 draw, which would be an improvement for us on the score line in August and last Saturday at the Windy Millers.

The team that can't win (very often) plays the team that can't score (well, not so very often) though they are also pretty effective at stopping the other team scoring too (usually).

Latest news

The natives are getting a bit restless due to a shortage of wins, a lack of goals, especially at home, soft goals being conceded and now the stand roof is leaking and there's allegedly no brass to fix it with.
There's never a dull moment at Deepdale ....  Laugh

The club's point of view

https://www.pnefc.net/news/2022/october/...intenance/

So - read that as they've bought a couple of rolls of gaffa tape and a tube of clear bathroom sealant from the local Machine Mart and are working on it?
They've now got to find someone willing to do a bit of roof crawling while someone points a sprinkler at the stand roof.

Two goals at home in 8 games makes us look prolific. That said, we made them look prolific in the EFL Cup tie earlier in the season.
They subsequently had only scored 4 in the league until they went to Norwich and scored 3 all in one game.

Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating

From what I gathered from the pressers there's no new injuries for us ...

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame

... and there's been no new miracle cures out there either.

Last time out

Town lost 2-1 away at Rotherham, a game where with better passing/finishing in the box we could have been out of site by half-time.
There was also another debateable penalty shout but when do we ever get those?

Both Ends lost 0-2 at home to a suddenly resurgent Stoke side, now managed by former Both Ends boss, Alex Neil who was warmly welcomed back to Deepdale at 3pm, and probably not quite so warmly waved away at 5pm.

Musical Interlude

Ian Kirkham - sax player with Simply Red

If your gran/grandad (or mum/dad of a similar era) are still around they might recall "The Man with the Golden Horn" (oooh, er missus).

Yes it can be a bit windy in Lancashire, you may have noticed.

Ken Nicol - geetarist with Steeleye Span for a period in time and The Albion band amongst many others.
Did a lot of "session" work too. So here he is doing one with rubber faced Lancastrian Phil Cool, from just up the road in Chorley.

One 'specially for the PNE fans sitting in the Alan Kelly Town End stand this season

The Sack Race

In addition to Bruce getting the chop at WBA last week, lost in all that noise was James Rowberry at Newport.
No new permanent appointments have been made so far in, ooh, quite a few cases.
Aldershot have fired theirs out the cannon too this weekend, but that's non-league.

Tables, (lack of) Form & all that.

Both Ends have drawn 7 of their 15 league matches. 5 of their first 7 games were 0-0 draws, the other two were 0-1 wins at Luton and Coventry.
They've not scored in 9 of their games and have stopped the opposition scoring in 9 too.
12 of their 19 points have been gained on the road where they have only lost once (2-1 at Brizzle last Wednesday).
Hmmm. They were a bit like this a couple of seasons back I seem to remember.

Town on t'other 'and 'ave nowt to shout about either.

Innies and Outies

Former Town loanee Izzy Brown spent the best part of last season there injured. He's still looking for somewhere else to get injured this season.

Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman was part of the England U20 squad that won the World Cup in 2017 - I may have mentioned this in an earlier thread not too long ago that had nowt to with Both Ends, or England come to that. Let's keep up the recycling eh?
With the Fog on the Tyne now heavily polluted with Arab oil brass, developing local talent is a bit lower in priority up there, so I don't blame him for going somewhere where he'll get a regular game.

Who's banging 'em in

Other than the 4 they put in our onion bag - this could be the sum total of their league goals (I haven't checked).

They can't all lose, or win either

Coventry play Sheff Utd, Boro are at Wigan, Hull head across country to Blackpool, WBA are at home to Brizzle.

We've played 'em before

Town are ahead by 1 in the League, but behind by 1 when you throw the Cup games in. So nowt in it then.
Oh, and they stuck 4 past us in the League Cup back in August, just in case you missed that, I may have mentioned it before.

Next up?

Boro away next weekend

Pressers

Fotheringham's fables (foibles surely?)
His presser started at 12:45, how long does it take to get the bloody thing on YouTube for heavens sake?
Interesting, I've been refreshing the Town web page about every 30 mins since 2pm, it's now 4pm and it now comes up saying it was posted an hour ago. Yeah, OK, there's another page there you now claim was posted 5 hours ago. (Pah!!)

25 minutes - get a drink, you'll need one.

Note there's links to the verbal Spotify version and the lip readers YouTube version if you scroll down far enough.

Jordan Rhodes on Radio Local - 15 minutes - you'll need another

Both Ends seem to be even more reluctant to post their pressers, so here's a bit of reading for you in the meantime. If they ever get round to it .... !!

Harry and Odetta are part of my earliest memories of TV shows in the 60s, dear Liza. A beautiful rendition of a simple children's song. Far better than Harry and Felumi.

Loved watching Phil Cool back in the day. He had his own BBC series when we got our first video recorder so watched that over and over again. Still come out with quotes about Ford Sierra drivers or the man with the house made of cork.

His impression of Dierdre Barlow as an Aquaphibian from Stingray was spot on. Big Grin  Laugh  Tongue
