Really excellent match thread Snoots Thumb up
Loved the Coventry in Popular culture bit....jaw dropping about the war and the secrets we kept at the expense of Coventry.
What....we aren't on the tellybox tomorrow? I thought we had our own channel now? Looks like I'll have to listen to Oggy on Town Player then. Sad times.
Talking about the telly bits mentioning Coventry...you ever see The Lovers clip mentioning Huddersfield? Richard Beckinsale and the gorgeous Paula Wilcox.

Yes, Shep.

I've always wanted to watch Huddersfield Town....... Big Grin

And 515 bombers sent to Coventry, with only one of them shot down? That doesn't sit right, does it? Sounds like they were just left alone to suffer. Sad

Excellent thread M'Lud - I will however point out a major flaw with that there Arena Station.

Well, nothing wrong with the station, more a flaw with West Mids Railway. They only run one train an hour in either direction, they are only two carriages long (one during the week) and away fans are actively encouraged by police, stewards and barriers from turning left as they exit the stadium. Thus making it almost impossible to get to the station.

Despite having loads of rolling stock currently sitting idle, WMR refuse to put on "specials" or longer trains for football, rugby or any other event at the stadium. So much for the tree huggers wanting to keep the cars off the road. There are additional buses from the bus station however. If you use that big car park - good luck with getting out. You might still be there after 6pm.

Well that sounded good on the radio.

Was Toffs goal, the goal of the season? Sounds like it's up there with the best.

Also sounds like Tino came good at last. Give him a full 90 next week.

I dare say my friends that work in Coventry will hand out a bit of stick on Tuesday when I see them but they said it earlier in the season - "we dominate teams, create loads of chances, then pass it to the keeper or hit some kid stood behind the goal".

Coventry's season was distilled down into 90+mins on Saturday.

Town on the other hand had far fewer shots but a far higher %age on target and the penalty (never understand this) isn't a counted as a shot on target.

We had to defend for long periods but we did it well, well enough that the only shot that eventually got passed the excellent (again) Nicholls took 90' to do so. When we broke we did it at speed and with some good passing moves. As always, LOB ran his socks off, The General organised things between midfield and the back, Rhodes was unlucky not to score. Holmes popped up all over the place, Russell had another pretty solid game as did Scott High. The few errors that were made were mopped up with some excellent defending across the back line.

As Snoots hasn't posted it yet, you can make your own mind up about Toffo's goal.
(Spotted myself on one of the replays) Tongue

Thought Wilson was nearer to saving both goals than it actually turned out.

No apologies for the extended version

Not sure where the decision came from for Tino to take the penalty but it was nicely tucked in the corner and he was a tad more effective generally than as of late.

PS - It's a bloody long hike from that ground back to the station.
